I believe AR starts are Halo’s cancer.
I have seen several threads defending AR starts saying they are much more fun and saying it takes more skill.
I understand if you say that bloom ruins the DMR/NR, but in my opinion you can’t say AR takes more skill than DMR/NR or it’s more fun to AR spray the enemy.
What do you think? How can people prefer it over the DMR/NR?
Please enlighten me.
AR starts are fine for social and overall fun but ruin competitive playlists.
anyway, AR starts can be more fun then DMR starts, it just depends on how you choose to play.
How do they ruin competitive play?
Assault Rifles have been in Halo a hell of a lot longer than DMRs. I say keep it, it’s an iconic weapon, like the lightsaber or the tanooki suit.
Not everything has to be about skill. Some people prefer AR starts and that’s why we have them.

having them as the primary weapon does, it promotes AR rushing an takes away from map flow and control, this is fine for social to mess around with and have general fun but in ranked it just creates frustration and reduces the skill ceiling …

They’re useless weapons that promote linear aggression and mindless rushing.
Not everyone wants to play for ultra competitive fun at a high skill level? Some people just want to play for fun? Just a guess. Fun is subjective.
It may not be in line with what you want, but the game doesn’t revolve around any one player’s wants and desires. It’s hard to appeal to the masses with side a wide player base. I think that’s where the game variants come into play. DMR Starts, Slayer Pro,… get a party together and vote for them if that’s what you prefer.
My problem with DMR starts is most of the battles start and stay as long-range battles, and that gets boring really quick. I like AR start.

fun is subjective, what is fun for you might not be fun for someone else and vice versa.

So if I prefer DMR over AR I’m supposed to be ultra competitive? You’re just biased.
DMR is in every aspect a better weapon. It has a larger skill gap. There are many variables in DMR battles (such as strafing), while AR battles never change as it promotes mindless rushing (it’s no secret that most AR battles finish with both fighters dead).

he’s saying that just because you prefer DMR starts doesn’t mean it should be mandatory.

DMR starts already exists in those playlists.
The AR is terrible, it should never have been a part of any Halo game.
Also, I don’t see what’s so fun about squeezing down the trigger and mindlessly spraying a weapon that takes no skill or brain power to use. If that’s your idea of fun, maybe you should be playing something like Call of Duty.
People say they want DMR starts only yet at the same time they complain about how OP it is against vehicles. Make up your -Yoink!-ing minds.

Because the only types of weapons that should be in any FPS ever are bolt-action rifles that take 5 seconds to cycle the next round.

Along with AR starts. AR starts shouldn’t even be an option. DMR starts are better in literally every way, so I don’t understand why AR starts even exist in the first place.

what about the people who prefer AR starts over DMR starts?
removing all AR starts will be alienating a good portion of reach’s current population which is not a good idea.
