Halo has been on a very steep incline going down, not good at all. Even the MLG Pro Circut is thinking about droping it, manly because people just aren’t competitive anymore. This is understandable, here’s why (Personal Opinion). People quit out of matches all the time, manly because of their lack of skill. Or people just rage and leave. There are sooooo many ways to prevent this. I think the easiest way would be to add a ranking system to the competitive list in matchmaking. this would pair us with people with simlar skills and people who want just randomly quit out cause their rank means something. I understand halo 4 is on the horizon, but will the halo universe last til then…
All I’m saying is if we had this I think things would change quick. And more people would come back just to get that hard to get 50.
I think people left because they’ve been playing the same game since Halo 1. Whenever a “competitive” player gets his opinion in it’s just a suggestion to make the game exactly the same thing people have been playing for 10 years. Anytime a change is made or a gametype is suggested it’s immediately smacked down, without anybody even trying it to see if it was fun.
Or This halo just didnt make since and went from being halo to a future like game simliar to CoD… Halo would be the same as it was 10 years ago if the carried it out the right way. I thank 343 for trying their hardest to bring it back, my opinion is to only help them and see if they would also think that this would reduce those issues…Thanks

Um… proof read?
Umm its the internet, who cares…
Really? You’re pulling that one on me?
> Umm its the internet, who cares…
You should still try to type cogent thoughts with at least some intelligible English in order to get your point across. If no one can understand what you’re trying to say, why bother saying it?
OT: I agree that ranked playlists were better at sorting out competitive matches and giving peoe incentive to stick around in a game. Unfortunately, this would require a massive update to Reach which probably isn’t incoming from the few people still working on it.

Hm, or its because people quit the game when they get 50-10’d every game on this game.
There is more than just one reason why people stop playing. COD and other games took the players, Bored of halo, Or tired of getting destroyed in halo.
Or Really this games settings were not halo in the true sense.
Its just a poor mans shadowrun( Sadly made by the same people who made shadowrun!
Which is also a failed game by the way.
Due to it not being like GASP. SHADOWRUN (Old school RPG)
Starting to see a pattern.

Yeah, now that CoD has taken fratboys and kids away with its easy gameplay (a positive thing in my books) and that other franchises have drawn in their own fanbases, it would make sense that Halo would lose some numbers. Even when Halo 2 was out it was played by nearly everyone because console multiplayer was still new and it was pretty much the only thing you could play.
Yeah, they’re bored of Halo because they’re just doing the same thing over and over again. Even CoD is getting bad rep for the same thing every year. Really, more variety in gametypes can help people bored with the game, especially if the overall sandbox is balanced and everybody doesn’t need the DMR to get kills with. Seriously, just how many years can people play a game thats limited to a single gun? Part of the reason why I hate the TU as it buffs the DMR and does the opposite effect. Forcing players to settle into a single gametype that encourages them to pass on Halo in favour of another game that offers something different. Plus a few tweaks to OP weapons and vehicles can prevent people from getting “destroyed” and actually give them some breathing room to learn how to play the game better. What do you learn from getting spawncamped 20 times in a row (besides learning how unfair it is).
Urgh, really, can we please stop with the Shadowrun comments? It doesn’t matter who worked on the game or what their previous work was. Dig deep and you can find many “crossover” developers putting some time and effort into other franchises that you wouldn’t think be working on them. Nobody had a problem with him during Reach’s developement, they’re just looking for an easy answer to shift their blame on.
We all know MLG would rather have another Starcraft II league than anything else.
Nothing in Halo itself is wrong. Once upon a time Sci-Fi/2WW shooter were appealing to the majority but now they are not that much high compare to the modern war games.
Then, you get people that always complain about everything in Halo and make run away people by doing so.
After that you check the numbers to see that there was never a lot of competitive player in Halo series. Truth be told all those player you saw back on Reach launch or Halo 3 were in a 99% casual/gamer that only play for fun. Please remember that Halo 3 had a big population before CoD ascension with Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare. After that Halo 3 never had the same population and the broken people playing online counter didn’t help.

Yeah thats too bad that reach looked like shadowrun right?
I laugh when people mention it on shadowrun videos on youtube.
Other cross over devs know not to put something that din’t work for one game and put it into a successful one.
Nor do you change a game that has a known formula. You can add something new to the game while making it familiar for old fans. (Hardest thing to do)
Every game is repetitive in nature, Its just how fun we find that repetition.
so basically If you had your way, ARS would probably overrule headshot capable weapons. Funny how you blame the Br’s or the rifles for the population dropping. It has nothing to do with anything. Those were sorta the stables of halo gameplay, To get the 4 shot kill with the BR, To obtain a strafe that can slay a dragon.
The other stuff that was a stable of halo was all the goofy stuff that would happen, to do the physics engine being a bit wonky. Social Aspect is now gone.
Breathing room? No one should have them hand held in a video game. I learned though trail and error and still learning. If they want to get good at halo, Cossta posted a guide which got buried in this forum, Il rebump it, but seriously the information is out there.
If they are getting spawn trapped, that’s their fault for not providing good team work. Then they cry about it, when they have all the info in the world to get better at halo, Its called the internet.
The rifle weapons will be always better than other sandbox items, To do the nature of halo gameplay. They promote team work,
You can’t tell me with a straight face and tell me you can Team Shot effectively with ARS?

Actually it was MW 2 that made Halo 3 down a spot in 2nd.

I seriously can’t even handle you anymore.
Either you get farther and farther from the truth everyday or I just learn more with each post the shenanigans that go on inside your brain.

So I’m not the only one frustrated ? lol good to know.
I would love it if Halo 4 used the 1-50 ranking system. The only reason Bungie changed the 1-50 ranking system to the cR is because they wanted to make it more open to the more casual players, meaning more sales. I preferred the 1-50 simply because you knew that when you saw a level 50 (unless they boosted/hacked) they were skilled players. Inheritors aren’t necessarily skilled players now.
Basically: Halo 2&3- skill to rank up
Halo Reach- time to rank up.

Basicly
Now there is lopsided games everywhere.
Just doesnt work for halo.
we need a good skill based ranking system.
