I got to hand it to 343 about the personality they put in the Promethean weapons BUT they have fallen short with the Boltshot and Suppressor. They both shoot homing projectiles but with slight added mechanics. The Suppressor warms up, like the Plasma Rifle, and the Boltshot is basically a discount BR for a price.
Here’s what I’d do for the Boltshot:
•4-Shot burst unscoped, 3 shot kill
•Single shot extremly fast projectile scoped, slightly weaker than scoped LR
Please state what you’d change to make them more fun and/or viable.
Make the Suppressor more of a suppressing weapon…I’m sorry, but something with homing projectiles doesn’t say “suppress” to me. It feels more like “kill”.

Yeah, it felt like a suppressing weapon in 4, at least when thinking that it was designed to combat the Flood. But it now seems to have lost that identity.
they still have a lot more “personality” than their h4 version
Yeah I don’t understand what makes them “power” weapons to be honest, the boltshot is worse than it was in H4, the surpressor is maybe better? And I have no idea what’s different about the light rifle… They seem more quirky I guess, but they did stand out more in 4 which made them appear to have more personality I guess
I’d change the boltshot back to rapid, single fire side arm, give it a mag that holds a multiple of three, the single shots are fast moving non hitscan rounds but when you zoom in, the parts all move forward and tilt towards the barrel, each shot deals the damage of three shots and uses up three rounds, the shots change into a hitscan laser like an Light Rifle round and the fire rate remains a little high but can over heat the weapon in this state.

Tbh they should become loadout weapons but you need to complete a set of challenges,
gain another 100 kills with the weapon+
gain 50 assists with+
Gain 30 kills with either variant (total not separate)+
Complete 2 matches with the weapon as your tool of destruction+
Kill Insert number here of insert AI+
Gain 30 Perfects (precision weapons only)
There should be three out of these challenges, randomly selected with a few exceptions like the Plasma pistol getting the tool of destruction challenge. For the challenges to even appear you need to complete the commendation and then have 100 req cards of the weapon to activate it.
Suppressor should return to suppressing things, like Halo 4.
Forerunner minigun might be cool. Maybe make it like the Heavy’s from TF2, where it spins up for a second then unleashes death.
Boltshot could have a variant that is the Halo 4 version, but only after a high REQ level [say, REQ 6? 7? 32? Yeah, 32 sounds right]. In all seriousness, maybe a charge up where it shoots three bolts worth of ammo into one powerful shot with better homing but slower speed [like the Plasma Pistol].
All Forerunner weapons should be more powerful against living targets [because Flood] than vehicles. Not a buff, more of a nerf really, but muh lore. Exceptions being for anti-vehicle weapons like the Incin Cannon and the Binary Rifle.
“Retina of the Minds Eye” or “Heartseeker” not sound soulful enough for you? One could be the album, the other the single.

I was thinking that it could look like THIS. It would have a short charge up time and have a noticeable charge-up effect in which glowing particles form in-between the rods. After the charge-up is complete, a glowing blue energy beam would shoot out from the core from the weapon. Maybe it should have a short cooldown like the Sentinel Beam?

Ah, the Sentry Turrets from Halo 3! I loved those things! And this idea is better than mine, I was thinking Halo 3’s chaingun [which I think is technically a minigun due to spinning barrel] but reskinned to look Forerunner. Your idea is even better though.
One thing I would do for the boltshot(s) is to bring back the short-range shotgun feature back from halo 4

Wow, I forgot that it was from Halo 3, I’ll have to go back and play it again today.

Not hard to forget, they were only in like three campaign missions [The Ark, The Covenant, and Halo] and weren’t in Matchmaking. I can assume it might’ve been left out of MM either because OP or they had a hard time with the AI registering who is and isn’t friendly

In H4 the lightrifle was a 3-round burst unscoped, and a single shot while scoped in. Now it’s just single shot

Those are great weapon variants of the base promethean weapons that have soul. Only the boltshot and suppressor need major changes, although the scattershot could use a tweak.
For Suppressor, increase fire rate, ditch the homing ability, and have each shot fire multiple rounds that continue to spread out the farther they go.

Interesting idea, that does stay true to the longer range theme of the promethean weapons

The scattershots only good point over a shotgun is the ability to bounce shots around corners. This needs to be played upon otherwise it is pointless, especially compared to blaze of glory.
In my opinion, the forerrunner weapons are very soulful and does something different. The suppressor and the boltshot feels way better than in Halo 4.
And my soul is yours Dying Star <3

Yeah, the base and loathsome thing are outclassed by the base shotgun
