Let's get one thing straight.

Being that I am a veteran Halo player, I have my qualms with Halo 5. However, I played the beta, and I know that we can all agree Halo 5 will be far superior to any shooter that has come out this console generation, not only with the multiplayer but the campaign as well. Let’s have some positivity in these forums.

Amen

When your competition is Call of Duty that’s not saying a whole lot.

Nope.

As long as doom gets the support it’s needs that is a superior game in my opinion.

*"unveiling of the new Doom at E3, Hines was more forthcoming, saying that the initial iteration of the game was too far from the original Doom, and too close to a certain very popular modern military shooter."*Sigh … just like Halo 5. Microsoft doesn’t have the balls to be different.

That’s a bold claim, but I can agree with that for now.

I agree. Halo 5 was incredible. I absolutely loved the beta, and I know I will enjoy the game very much. This form does need more positivity yes. It’s hard to come up with positive forms when there hasn’t been too much news lately.

Kinda tough to say anything really. You said it. Can’t wait!

343i is set to make a big splash with this game…it could be the halo 2 of this trilogy in terms of what it could lead to and how much it could improve what came before. I can’t wait honestly.

No offense, it looks okay. But its pretty generic looking to me with a bunch of over the top animations. Fun, but wouldn’t last me.

Halo 5 is -Yoinking!- generic. Doom is one of the few games out there now (On the xbox at least), that aren’t completely like every other game.

Nothing more innovative than shooting at hordes of semi-intelligent enemies with an added gore gimmick.

There was nothing special about that Doom showing, other than the fact that Doom is returning.

Agreed.

I didn’t like the looks of Doom. It looked shallow.

It’s not any more or less innovative than Halo 5, but it is the only game left of it’s kind, making it stand out from the crowd. It doesn’t feel like any other game out there on consoles, while Halo 5 feels like every other game out there.

Please explain. Saying that Halo has a lot of the mechanics that other shooters have is one thing; saying that as a result it feels just like every other shooter seems ludicrous to me.

Of course if you have the same mechanics as other games, the games are going to feel more similar. The more things you have in common, the more the same they will feel.

No, similar mechanics do not automatically make one game a carbon copy of the other. For example, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare has several mechanics that look like they’ve been borrowed from Halo games (thrust, hardlight shield, cloaking, etc.), but you can’t honestly say that the two games play the same.

They have several things in common, but they have a few things aren’t the same as well. Implementing load-outs in Halo 5 and stripping away the shields: it will feel almost the same. It’s only 2 changes apart to make it a real copycat.

Doom 4 needs many more changes. I am pretty sure doom will be huge on PC.

But I am not going to have this discussion again. You wouldn’t be able to tell Mario Kart and Forza apart either.

Even if that were true, what is the likelihood that those two changes would ever take place?

And based on what I saw at E3, Doom will hardly be the pinnacle of current-gen FPS design. Again, sharing some mechanics with another game doesn’t automatically make the game a carbon copy, and choosing not to share mechanics with a game does not make that game automatically good.

I can’t agree to that, simply because the beta was a beta and I haven’t played the other modes or campaign.
