I quote the above posts because they are absolutely correct.
CEA was done carelessly in both aspects (campaign and multiplayer), although multiplayer is a lot more tolerable since it felt somewhat polished.
But CEA’s campaign is the ultimate disappointment.
1. It’s not the same experience.
The AI line frequencies have been altered, the weapon and vehicle sounds have been swapped, the field of view has been increased, the draw distance seems smaller, AI and dropped weapons are harder to spot, the simplest jumps are hard to do due to the loose graphics layer (getting the Pinata skull without a Banshee is a breeze with classic graphics), the trees and walls are unreliable cover, again due to the loose graphics layer, the classic stuff are harder to do.
2. No improvements.
I was expecting a better crouch and the press X to enter a vehicle to be fixed (or at least made as an option). How could they overlook these flaws of the Xbox version?
Also, the lack of Theater really kills the fun. There are some stunning fights that be initiated and watched over a distance but are too risky to watch up close. They should have included Blind to compensate for Theater’s absence. It was after all purposed for that, and it would have added much more to the immersion than Malfunction.
3. Barely any new gameplay experiences.
Only the following skulls made it feel new: Grunt Funeral, Bandanna, Pinata, Famine, Fog, Black Eye, Grunt Birthday.
The rest made gameplay absurd (Eye Patch, Boom, Recession, Mythic) or were redundant (Foreign, Iron, Malfunction).
4. Which version is it?
Xbox or PC? They should clarify on this.
I want to play with the new graphics but this is some sloppy work. I can’t be bothered playing with the new graphics because of all these supposedly minor annoyances. They are very aggravating on higher difficulties.
I have played CE’s campaign thoroughly so I’m not just one of those complainers that pick out everything they don’t like.
I’m just stating my point. CEA simply does not provide an immersive experience like CE.
CEA would have been better if it had made some changes. The irony is that H4 is making big changes.
I have high expectations for H4 but not for a H2 Anniversary.
