Let's get 343i to sit down and talk to cT

This is a cross post from The Halo Council. This thread is in regards to competitive aspects in Halo. I will do my best to explain why I feel sending one man to talk to 343 about competitive aspects might be more beneficial multiple people, as well as why I feel specifically cT (Chaos Theory) is the man for the job.

Maybe a month or two months ago I was lucky enough to “initiate” what was supposed to be an interview bravo was going to have with cT. Really I just posted in the right thread at the right time and bravo responded saying he would do it. Judging by an earlier post from cT, Bravo looks to be too busy to have the time and sit down with him.

Well haven’t we played the waiting game long enough for Halo 4 as it is? Let’s see if we can get someone else to sit down and talk with him then. I’ve seen people mention kevin franklin, ghost and quinn before. I don’t think Kevin or Ghost would benefit us in anyway, so let’s reach out to quinn and see if he would be willing.

Let me explain why I would like to do this. I know a decent amount of us are unhappy with the direction Halo has gone from a competitive standpoint. Regardless if information is used or not, I at least want to be content knowing a lot of competitive halo players’ concerns are at least heard and I truly believe the best person to explain these concerns are cT. If you ever read anything he’s posted about Halo CE, it’s been in a simple and clear way that’s easy to understand.

Now it may seem like I’m always riding his nuts, but the truth is I actually have disagreed with him before and do have different opinions from his. However, he’s never made a statement that I couldn’t at least respect, even if I didn’t agree with him. That’s professionalism folks… A lot of times I feel 343 gets bombarded with unhappy fans claiming “BR sucks DMR OP 343 is bad”… Well that does them no good, and makes us look bad. Let’s send someone who has been proven to have good ideas, with in depth explanations to back them up. I honestly feel if 343 disagrees with them, they’re going to at least respect him and I think they’ll be blown away by his story, experiences, and knowledge.

So… enoughs enough. Let’s send one of the only members of the Halo community (throughout it’s entire duration) who has been widely respected by just about everyone. We honestly have nothing to lose, and so much to gain.

Either Tweet Quinn yourself, or retweet mine!

> cT:
> Why would they listen? They’ve made a career out of not listening to one person.
>
> Oh, and one more thing. While we’re definitely interested in gauging the community response to the Halo: Reach Beta, some things are ultimately subjective and implemented by design. If you’re furiously typing up a tome with the belief that your expert opinion on weapon balance or fundamental game mechanics desperately needs to be heard, you’re likely throwing your keystrokes away. – Urk, Bungie
>
> Not that you or anyone has suggested otherwise, but I’d like to again kindly remind everyone that this is a feedback thread and not a direction one. By that I mean I can guage reaction using this thread but that that consensus on these forums doesn’t dictate what goes into the final product. – Shishka, Bungie
>
> This doesn’t make your feedback any less valuable, but if you’re writing a novella on how you feel a mid range weapon is “supposed” to behave complete with self accredation (I’ve played Halo for x years, I’ve been to y tournaments, etc etc), keep in mind we’ll browse until we get what your actual concern is, and skip the rest. – Shishka, Bungie

This is what we’ve dealt with is the past, and chances are things haven’t changed. However I feel if we can get behind cT here as a community, they may realize this isn’t just one guy and his thoughts, but the concerns of many players.

tl;dr - tweet quinn or retweet me and let’s get him to talk to cT.

^^^^ That was copied and pasted from the original thread on THC, now I’ll try to explain a little more in depth why I feel this is a good approach. If you see from those quotes, the community hasn’t had much luck in terms of working with the developer from a competitive standpoint. I feel this happens for many reasons, but mostly I feel when players make suggestions to the developers, it’s hardly constructive criticism or well thought out ideas, and more “BR sucks DRM OP 343 sucks lol” type of feedback.

While I encourage everyone and anyone to take it upon themselves to contact 343 and express your ideas/concerns. I think it would be beneficial for someone who is as well respected and knowledgeable as cT. I don’t think many of you guys know him, but he knows more about CE than the Dev’s did, and is coming out with a book soon. I’ll see if I can find some of his in depth and knowledgeable posts if you guys want some proof.

While I understand one person’s opinions don’t reflect the majority, he has continuously posted based on facts and data he’s collected, and is completely for bettering competitive aspects in Halo, while removing randomness where he can. Ideally, that’s what we need for a competitive title.

Lastly and most importantly, I stress competitiveness in this thread as a main concern, but as much as a priority this is, casuals should still have faith, since cT is the perfect mix of a casual and competitive player. If he’s out there reading this, no offense chaos theory!

He’s a hardcore Halo CE fan who knows the game better than anyone, but he’s faaaaaaaaaar from the best. He’s a casual player at heart whose knowledge of the games depth is so great that by default he’s playing a competitive level… Hard to follow? I don’t blame you. For instance, cT’s pistol shot wouldn’t be anything to worry about compared to some better Halo players. However, he knows the weapon spawn times on each map on each gametype, and that’s all from memory. He knew the spawn system like no other, and explains it in a way a 5 year old could understand. He has the ability to outplay players just based on his knowledge alone, and not his shot or skill level.

I feel someone with so much knowledge could only benefit us in the long run, and hopefully prevent any further changes us Halo fans might not like.

Any questions, feel free to ask! Thanks.
