Hello all! Here I am once again to ask the fine folk at 343 to essentially fix breakout. Now I know there is a lot of confusion about the topic and some people consider it a meme but it really isn’t. Its a request from many community members such as myself. People have been asking for this for a really long time. It’s only recently because of my semi popularity and determination that it is being to be brought to light. Let me explain. There are two versions of breakout, both 1.0 and 2.0(shameless flex I was #1 in the world for breakout 2.0 according to halotracker). Both had their own play style but kind of similar in a few senses. Both had their own fans of the gamemode. It upset a lot of people that 1.0 got switched out with 2.0 but at least it wasn’t that big of a change, the play style was still similar. However, (idk when because I stopped playing halo 5 seriously in early 2017) they later changed the breakout playlist even more. Breakout was now in the elimination playlist(ranked), the playlist contains breakout 1.0, 2.0 and extermination. Extermination is a completely different mode from the two. The only way extermination relates is really that the announcer still says breakout when you load into it.
So what exactly are we asking to be fixed? Really all we want is a separation of the modes into their own playlist, or at least the two breakout gamemodes be in their own playlist. It just really doesn’t make sense for the three modes to be in the same playlist in a ranked setting. Imagine this, you want to play ranked slayer but instead, you get ranked swat or ranked super fiesta. Doesn’t sound like what you wanted to play, or fun…
Doesn’t sound so hard. It’s a playlist update. There is one of those weekly. And for all those who say they’d rather 343 focus on Halo Infinite, I agree. However, that’s just not it works. People still work on halo 5 even if halo infinite is under development.
So what have I done so far to push for the change? This isn’t my first waypoint post about this topic. I commented on EVERY Instagram post from halo for quite some time now. I commented on most of the halo twitter post. I went to Halo Outpost in PA wearing fix breakout merch and even gave some 343 members fix breakout stickers and talked to them on the subject.
In conclusion. I ask that the community members help me fight for the push and I ask that 343 please make the change. I know halo 5 is an old game at this point but when I go back to play a beloved game of mine I want to play it to have fun the way I remember having it, not rolling the dice to have a good time or not.
Halo has always been great, but Halo 5’s 1.0/2.0 Breakout was one of the best and most memorial times in my “gaming career”. It’s so versatile, unique and very enjoyable especially when you have a squad with your friends. Breakout was one of the reasons why I still play this game 4 years later. I stand by HaloTV on this statement that Elimination and Breakout are quite opposite game modes. If a separation in between the two could be possible that would be phenomenal 343i. Appreciate it!

There doesn’t seem to be any intention for them to change it unfortunately.
I enjoy all 3 variants but it’s more difficult to get immortal and against all odds commendations in extermination and it seems to come up 5-6 times out of every 10 matches.

I couldn’t agree more, well said.
Extermination doesn’t belong in Elimination, and it probably doesn’t belong in ranked altogether.
What did the 343 members at Outpost say to you?
I agree. I started multiplayer in 2017 and Breakout 2.0 was all I played. I’m glad the brought 1.0 back but having Extermination mixed with it just ruins it. You could play 10 games and 8 of them would be Extermination. Now I hate Extermination so much I don’t even play the Elimination playlist. Extermination needs to go back to rotational.

I hardly ever get breakout it’s always extermination… It’s so annoying… Literally no one likes it. And the few people that do say it doesn’t belong with breakout

I gave them fix breakout stickers. Was told that they know what I mean. And then I got the we are looking into quits etc speel. But talking to them is what made my trip so still worth it ig

Extermination is enjoyable… Like when it was a spotlight playlist I played a few games but it doesn’t belong with breakout or ranked

Very frequent quits in extermination as well in my experience. But that’s just my observation, I don’t have any hard data like they would.
I’m sure if it’s 2 teams of onyx or high level players, nobody quits. If it’s 2 teams of randoms and very wide rank range, guaranteed quitters. But I guess that probably applies to any ranked playlist.
Agreed. Breakout should be in its own playlist. Give the community what they want 343.

Sure they wouldn’t quit cuz they don’t want to lose their ranks but I’m sure they too don’t enjoy the gamemode
