Lets face it..

Halo 4 is all about grinding and not at all skill based. From the commendations to the sr ranks to the infinity challenge its worse than my aunts Randy Chihuahua on my leg… and that says alot.

The biggest point of proof of this is the infinity challenge, it seems to merely rank players in terms of points instead of a w\l or trueskill system.

Furthermore, I would just lime to point out that the weekly challenges are based on who completes them first not who completes the challenge fastest from the time they start until they complete it. That means that the most likely winner will happen to start a nonstop challenge run whenever the week for 343 rolls over (4 am for me) which seems pretty unfair to the people who value sleep.

Someone obviously hasn’t played against a skilled player/team yet…

EDIT: Since this is apparently off-topic, I’ll explain it… -_-

This topic is about the OP thinking Halo 4 is all about grinding and not skill based. It clearly is not… at times.

The OP has clearly not played against a skilled player/team yet because he says Halo 4 is not skill based. Playing against a skilled player/team completely changes the pace of the game, makes you play much harder, and at the end of the game, shows if you’re actually better than that skilled player/team.

Playing against a skilled player/team means no more spamming the grenades, the melee, the AR, or the DMR. Strafe is now much more important. Aiming is much more important. Smart tactics are much more important.

Overall, the OP has clearly just played against noobs.

As for the InfinityChallenge, Points are kills, assists, and medals. The more you have of those, the higher you are. The InfinityChallenge, while showing people that play the game more, also shows more skilled players. If someone plays the game 24/7 and sucks, they’re clearly not going to be in Tier 1.

I was hoping that the Infinity Challenge would rank people based on multiple criteria, and not solely on score. Unfortunately, all you have to do is grind the most and you will be hovering at the top. There is still skill involved, but until the CSR comes out, the only rank that will show is your time consuming SR.

The infinity Challenge nor the commendations were ever said to be about who is the most skilled.

It is about getting people to enjoy and play Halo 4 while getting the opportunity to win some prizes.

You made up that their goal was to be based on skill, but it never was meant to be.

There are other things that are skilled based in this game, and MLG was created for the competition to test the best.

So… yeah. You seemed to have assumed the wrong intention of the competition.

you are really stupid you know that competition are usually about skill i’d say 99.99% of the time heck even scavenger hunts are based on skill this “challenge” is not its a glorified commendation nothing more you can argue it but i don’t care so save yourself the trouble

They just need more competive maps and fix the bullet magnet… Look

i don’t care ohhhh

First two posts sum this up; Halo 4 can be a grind, a competitive multiplayer experience, a casual outlet, or any combination of the above. It really comes down to why you jump into a match in the first place.

If you look at the unlockable armors and their requirements and decide that you will spend your time in matchmaking working towards those unlocks, then playing Halo 4 will be a bit of a grind.

If you go into a game looking to play well and contribute what you can to your teammates, then Halo 4 matchmaking will be your outlet of competitive play.

If you want to play the game with your friends over for the night to have a good time with your friends, Halo 4 is your casual outlet. For the same reasons, Halo 4’s Forge and Custom game lobby could be a tool for you to create new experiences for your friends.

I play Halo 4 for all of these reason. My eyes are set on my progress bar to the Promethean ordnance mastery for the Believe pose. Heck yeah I’ll choose a scattershot over the shotgun.

However, I also care about doing well in my matches. I set personal goals for all my matches: die the least and/or get the highest K/D spread. After I took these up, I was able to get my first perfection. I play to be proud of my efforts. I am fine with joining an ongoing match on the losing team when I am able to get the highest spread in the match.

I also love to use the Forge and make a new game. I’m not the best forger, but it is always fun to make a game exploiting glitches in the game b/c my friends are unlikely to have seen them before. There’s a way to make the Spartan Laser rapid-fire? Time to make an infection gametype: Fend off the Wriathes!

Video not by me; how I found out about the glitch:

Halo 4 was made to reward players for everything they do through commendations. They are there to snare some players to the game with a system that says: play a lot, get these rewards your friends don’t have. They get players that do not necessarily like the gameplay think that they have made an investment: they can see that they have gone so far towards a helmet or visor and might them feel obliged to continue playing.

OP is upset with this system. It is probably b/c OP feels that he has been burned by the system, that it has wasted his time. If OP and many others liked the game itself, few would be moaning about the unlock system.

No, I wont face it.

Really? I thought it was about fun. Guess I was wrong.

there is like a 100 point difference in end score between someone who sucks and loses and someone who is good and wins

grind is right

no actual skill to this game

I do have to agree with OP on the Infinity Challenge Tourney; getting even close to the top of the leader boards requires a ridiculous time investment.

However, I have a problem with the implicit argument that I keep seeing when players complain about the tourney: that they would have a chance at winning if the tourney was more skill oriented.

OP: Even with your Killionair and Unfrigginbelievable, you are probably not the best Halo 4 player out their. You, like me, wouldn’t have a chance in that tourney anyway.
