more Playlists defiantly need to be added, voting system returning and forge on release. Sadly neither of these things were added at release and we did get a very small amount of content multiplayer wise. So yes the lack of content in Halo 5 defiantly isn’t subjective but practically a fact. however as i said before, if you call something out on its flaws, you also need to understand the other side of it. I’m going to assume their development time was fairly short (2 years or less) judging by their sprint series and the time stamps they had during the production. if i’m correct, a month or so before the E3 Campaign demo was meant to take place, they weren’t completely finished with the demo itself. Again making me believe that the development cycle was fairly short. To me that makes sense why Forge was held off and we have a chunk of missing content from our game. Hopefully we will be given this content very soon to make up for the lack of it.

No one said it was. If you see any replies to other comments iv made or my original post you would know that i’m not looking at this game as a master piece. People are allowed to give any negative feedback they want for something, which is good so the company may listen and things can be fixed. However if people are going to crowd the forums with topic after topic of complaints that really don’t hold their ground or in no way true. Again, your allowed to make the complaint that the story and character development is the part you don’t like. But at the same time you must realize that neither story or character development has been very good in any of past halo games. In fact it wasn’t til 343 took control and made Halo 4 that any real emotions even showed for master chief. The best we got from Bungie was Halo 2’s character Development on the Arbiter, which got more story and character development than the face of the franchise (Master chief). Halo 3 only had a fairly crappy Sarg. Johnson death that didn’t seem all that amazing and had some annoying screen shakes with cortana talking to chief.

In the end, there is simply no justifiable excuse that can dampen the negative effect that comes with this severe lack of content. No excuse whatsoever can make up for it. Same goes with Bungie on Halo 2’s -Blam!- ending, or any game developer for that matter.

All I can hope now is that 343i keeps their promises and delivers the custom games experience that is at this point expected to be included with every Halo game. I also hope that this will not happen again with future Halo titles, which is why I bring this up in almost every thread I post in.

Agree with OP. Not having any of the issues most people claim to be having. In fact I think the “story” is healthier than it’s ever been.

There isn’t any justifiable excuse, your completely correct. My point was that their lack of development time was so short that id imagine the final product would have such a big chunk of content missing from it. This whole post isn’t to make Halo 5 seem like the greatest game ever or without its flaws, but more to inform people that the very things they are complaining about can be seen in past Halo games. Some are particular to this game like lack of content we are missing for multiplayer. Yet people already have their sights aimed at the apparently “Horrible” campaign/story elements that make this game just god awful in their eyes. Yet again, that same problem can be seen in past games.

I hope for the same thing you do. I think instead of all these hate threads that seem less about trying to get 343s attention and more to bash the game out of existence. Someone just needs to make a very simple thread saying "I’m a very huge fan of halo and i love the hell out of the series, but as a customer and proud fan, iv been disappointed with this product for these reasons: ". the other thing is bringing up actually valuable points rather then bashing aspects of the game that you don’t have the evidence to back up.

As a long time fan of the franchise, i can only hope they really do improve on the next Halo games where this game has seemingly had issues. One of the big differences between Halo and most FPS games was that it may come out every 3-4 years or longer… but it always packed a punch with how much content was given to the customer and always felt like your $60 was more than well spent. We had features we deserved at release, AT release. and we were often given enough new features/content to keep the game on our shelves for years to come. I feel like Halo 5 isn’t by far a bad game, but one that feels like it has massive potential but dropped the ball in many areas. I’m rating/judging the game by todays standards, which honestly has been filled with crappy games these past 3 years and only a hand full of good ones. What we deserve as customers is games like Witcher 3, MGS5 which are loaded to the bone with content, graphic quality and obvious great care from the creators. So for me, Halo 5 was a shocking surprise from all the crappy games we’ve been getting. Does it mean its amazing? No. But for me being able to play with friends again on campaign, enjoy multiplayer and actually get a use for my xbox one was worth the price tag. But that also varies for others.

Most of the “story Mode” reviews I’ve seen aren’t so much that it’s too short, but it doesn’t make much sense in some places (unless you read the comic) and “forgettable” Seems to be the most used phrase, Not really any defining moments this time around and the whole Cortana arc’s been done some many times a lot of people didn’t see it as any special and just played through. My complaint about it was the lack of Blue team, you only get 3 missions with the team that should have had their own game (Reach) it’s not a big issue, I didn’t think the Story was that bad, just wished i could have had more time with Blue team. (and also 3 of the levels aren’t even levels at all, literally talk to 2 people and done)

It WAS nice to see that they’ve gotten away from the whole “the places it blowing up get to the finish before time runs out” granted The Maw is one of my favorite levels they don’t need one in every game x.x

as For “no playlist for casuals” Most people are more or less upset over the loss of Spartan Ops and Firefight rather than pseudo-competitive types like Giffball, and i can sympathize with that, I had a lot of fun with Spartan Ops and although people took Firefight too competitively most of the times i had fun with it too, and the loss of both is a bit of a bummer.

Your right about the Req Packs, being a double edge sword, but there is a bit of money grabbing in there too, for instance if they took out the customization parts, I’d be willing to bet the buying of packs would drop significantly as most people buy them for the armors and not so much for the weaponry, and gamers are pretty notorious for being completionists there’s a lot of halo players out there that will play and PAY for days on end just to get 100% and at a few hundred thousand players at $4 a piece is a pretty damn decent amount of cash, sure you don’t HAVE to buy them…you don’t HAVE to buy DLC either, but the industry knows you will, after all that’s the entire point of Micro Transactions, Today’s games are no longer $59.99 after extras, DLC, Special editions and micro Transactions most people around $100+ for most games…Also, it CAN give the other team a pretty big -Yoink- advantage, yeah it’s random, but a single skilled player with an OP vehicle can decimate a team.

I feel like all that 343i really has to do toimprove halo 5 is add more gamemodes and maps. That would increase diversity, and mix things up a little for the halo cummunity. 343i should bring back some classic maps for BTB when in it released.

While its true that $4 per gold pack can defiantly add up, its not fair to say the vechicals/weapons give you an advantage in warzone. From what iv heard you still need to get your energy up (or whatever its called) to use said reqs. As far as split-screen goes, iv just found out the frame rate is actually tied in with the engine which many games do. Creating split-screen would dip the frame rate making many parts of the game simply stop functioning correctly. Essentially adding a second screen experience can break the game. What you have to remember is the Xbox One is already considered oldish hardware as its been out for nearly 3 years now. I wouldn’t be blaming 343, i would blame the hardware limitations that the xbox one has. I know iv heard it many times the whole “its been in this ____ halo game, so why not halo 5” while even halo 1 had it, the graphics, resolution and frame rate are significantly different from what we have today.

Regardless its a double edged sword for the company. They create split-screen and all the sudden the game stops working correctly or the frame rate dips massively. But if they don’t add it (the current situation) people complain its gone. There is no win win situation here for the company and i think its unfair for people to be so harsh against the company. Its fairly obvious Halo 4 didn’t win them many points with the halo veterans, so i’m pretty certain the lack of split-screen wasn’t a “yoink you fanboys, we’re gonna make you buy another xbox one, muhahahaha”

Yeah you need to save up energy, But i hit level 6-8 every game, if i had super powered vehicles i could spawn one each game, and if you used one correctly could be the end of the enemy team, ergo you win. split screens been around sense the SNES, the push in graphics is what taxes the engine which would cause the frame rate to drop, so again, yes, I’d rather take a hit to graphics.

The issue it that it should have been worked around to begin with, but more people complain about how things look now days, so in the end they chose graphics. and halo 4 didn’t lose people by including split screen, it’s been a function from the first release, people didn’t think of it as a positive or a negative, so you can’t list it as a cause for a decline in players. Halo 4 lost players because they did things slightly different in multiplayer, the same reason Reach lost players because they did things differently in multiplayer, a majority of the “veterans” Only care about one aspect of the game, and not as a whole, which is why Halo 5 will gain and lose players because again, they did things differently in multiplayer…Halo and Call of Duty have the same problem, Too many people care about one side of things and not enough for the rest, so multiplayer becomes the main focus, The story lacks, The casual side suffers, split screen is dying off not because it’s “too hard to include” but because people survive off the internet, and certain games like halo and call of duty aren’t really even seen as “games” anymore, they’ve become Electronic Sports…Seriously competitive people don’t play with friends, they play with teams, and a second screen just gets in the way, so, there no need for it…So, Now, That’s pretty much what halo is, It’s got a small story, and “Esports”…And that’s even listed on the site.

My only real problem with the game is lack of gametypes, Forge, and File Share. Other than that the game is AMAZING, in my opinion.

Halo 5 sucks because 343 sucks.
They refuse to acknowledge their fan base that is outside of the U.S.
We can’t experience the full game.
I’m temporarily stationed in japan, and i cant play online because of this region lock.
Hundreds of players have been posting a lot on the forums, even going as far as game devs Twitter etc. 343 refuses to fix this or even acknowledge it.
So im taking this garbage game back and getting my money back.

The campaign was the extreme letdown for me and something I’m still pissed off about. You detailed why because casuals like me who just play the games to learn the plots and details (along with background intel items). This will never get addressed until the next installment unless we get an Extended Cut or a Spartan Ops episode fills in the gaps. Terrible, terrible writing.

Yes, Its what I mentioned, Too much emphasis on Multiplayer, Story lacked, and there’s not much for casuals. They really need firefight, Spartan Ops, or as some one else suggested a Co-op Warzone 24 player vs AI game type.

Id say those are pretty small issues considering AC: Unity was massively buggy, huge cash shop and a beyond low frame rate. And the batman game was so horribly optimized its just now becoming playable for most.

As i said in my original post, everyone says the writing/story in general for halo 5 was an extreme let down. Which is ironic because Halo 1’s campaign had practically none. Halo 2’s best part of the campaign was arbiters character development/story, while master chief got practically none. Halo 3’s featured a horribly not dramatic Sarg. Johnson death and Chief dealing with cortana missing by doing a few shaky screen effects and her showing up on your screen telling you something. Id hardly call much of that very good writing at all. Yet those games are praised to the heavens by fans and Halo 5’s is just “the last straw”
