Let's clear something up on the Mark VI

Nowhere, and I repeat nowhere, in Halo media does it say that the Mark VI can be upgraded or be repaired while in cryo.
The Mark VII can make minor repairs and software upgrades while in cryo. This suit wasn’t made until AFTER the war.
The most absolute best theory on how he gets this new armor is from the UNSC Infinity after they find him. I guarantee everybody that he will be wearing Mark VI when he gets out of the Dawn’s cryotube.

I still can’t understand why people are making any sort of claims regarding the armour, seeing that we already know that the trailer was non-canonical and that the armour has since undergone multiple artistic alterations. There is also the fact that, as recent months have shown, 343 Industries is very willing to alter the lore in order to accomodate certain new details. The whole discussion brings to mind one of Abraham Lincoln’s aphorisms: “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” Why not sit on the fence until we get more information?

I’m 100% certain that it’s the Mark VII. Also does anybody remember the Halo 2 reveal? Guess what, the Chief is wearing Mark VI in it. They never say that he receives new armor until the game comes out. I’m sure that there were people back then who were like “OMG WHY DOES THE MARK V LOOK DIFFERENT?!” It’s the same exact case here.

I don’t get why people are getting worked up about this.

The reveal wasn’t even canon. It was just a teaser trailer.

I’m sure it will actually be explained in game how the Chief gets the new armour, they are not going to just dump it on us with no explanation.

EXACTLY! I keep on telling people that the reveal is not what happens. It seems like I’m the only one who’s seen the other reveal trailers.

Here take a look at the Halo 2 reveal. Now I’m going to think like some people here in the forum. So I’m assuming that the Mark V just received a graphical update, or the Chief repaired it in the Longsword. Also I can’t wait to fly out into space with a gun! And the gun looks like an Assault Rifle with a scope!

Its the MkVI.

LOOK AT THE CHEST PLATE, it has the same EXACT damage as it did in the end of Halo 3. How could it be MkVII if it has been damaged already?

Watch, your gonna feel like a fool when it turns out that your wrong

So one little piece of damage makes all the other changes to the armor alright? Sorry but no. That damage could have been caused later in the campaign.
If I remember correctly, when the Chief got Mark V in Halo 2 there was damage already there.

Master chief looks like a -Yoink- overgrown turtle with his new armor.
