Given plenty of time and gameplay to grow on my there’s still some things i don’t like. Where you guys in agreeance on some of these and they grew on you or you found away to around/to like them? Not a bashing thing but as i’ve played and became better these are things are still something i disagree with and i feel need to be altered/redone completely in Halo 6(please God let it be good)
-
Yeap…Spartan Charge. Not getting into the specifics of it, because yes you can avoid it but only under the right circumstances, but i just really dont like it. It rates up there with halo 4s’ jet packs. It doesnt feel like it goes with the game. I mean ultimately its a mechanic in a SHOOTING game that you can get kills just by running into someone at the right time.
-
Maps. Some of the maps are good, most are pretty bland and kinda boring as far as art style and complexity goes. I know 343 wanted some to be simplistic to maintain a fast paced arena style which would’ve been forgivable if the other maps in the game held up and we didnt have soley BTB Forge maps. The saddest part is that the new community forge maps blow the 343 forge maps WAY outta the water and are so cool and fun.
-
BTB community…weird to say i know but it seems like BTB brings out the worst in people. Having betrayals for power weapons and vehicles or players driving off and getting blown up rather than letting someone outside their party in the vehicle.

LOW REQ/XP REWARDS! Good lord! everything from playing in arena to the weak mythic boosts. The boosts by no means seem satisfying for me unless its and awesome jackpot or one of the win rewards that usually for exp. WHY? The legendary items are really rare and so are the boosts. So shouldnt a legendary boost pump out enough for atleast a free bronze pack instead of the measley 750RP i’ve been getting?
-
Lastly and lastly (because i rarely play regular warzone)-and this really is beating a dead horse. LAST SHOT…BOOSSSS…KILLllluuhhsssshhshsh… Like good lord i really don’t see the point in not having a system that rewards each team in consideration to how much damage was delt or heck give each team their own health bars and the first team to drain their health bar gets the points. Maybeeee…not even for all bosses just for the legendarys.
SUPRISE SECTION! Things i do like
- COMMUNITY MAPS! Community maps with the exception of a couple dev maps are by far my very favorite halo maps. They have breathed new life into breakout for me!
- Griffball! Need i say more. Though it’d be nice to see some griff ball commendations.
- The Carbines. Man the new carbines are so cool and have reinterested me in regular warzone. Loving them and wrecking house. PAINT THE WALLS RED WITH THE BLOOD OF SUBAN!!! MUWAHAHAH.
- Daily win packs to ease the ridiculous REQ grind.
- Accctttuuaally…starting to see friendlier more team friendly players. Gods be praised!
But yea theres my little mini list i have more on both sides but those are the ones i’ve encoutered recently. Thanks for reading.
What’s this? A constructive post? On Waypoint?
I must have fallen into the Twilight Zone or something.
BTW, I totally agree. Spartan charge is my biggest beef with Halo 5. And some bad maps.
They need to increase the time it takes spartan charge. You shouldn’t be able to sprint around the corner and melee everything around you within 2 seconds.
I figured sprint, splitscreen, and playable elites was beating a dead horse.
I like the post. It’s insightful. But no way in hell will I agree that spartan charge is as game breaking as jet pack. Nooooo sir. Jet pack is the most game breaking feature ever introduced in Halo. Well, maybe bloom is worse. But still.

I wouldn’t go as far as to compare spartan charge to the jet pack, but I do think spartan charge could use a little tweaking. I don’t like how it rewards players for being recklessly aggressive.
I don’t mind Spartan charge at all. You shouldn’t be letting someone bull rush you. Situational awareness, thrusters, radar, and teamwork pretty much elimates the enemy’s ability to charge you. If you are being charged often then you are doing something wrong.
On the flip side
Charging allows you to clean up a kill quickly after sprinting from the other side of a map to assist teammates.
Let’s you take advantage of players NOT paying attention to their surroundings.
Has a definite risk/reward that is both fair and reasonable.
In my opinion charging should stay.
I agree with you mostly everywhere else though. Except maybe last shot kill. It’s not the best thing in the world but every proposal I’ve read to change it just doesn’t feel right. In my opinion it’s the fairest system, either team could get the kill and the team putting in the most damage (at the given time) will have the highest probability of scoring the kill.

To be fair, the current state of automatic weapons and sprint in general do that a good amount on their own, but I agree.
Burn spartan charge and throw it in the trashcan… and dont forget to spit on it one last time.
If we are on the topics of dead horses, I Belive that you have forgotten splitscreen, and props for actually making a constructive post among the “Halo 5, worst Halo game ever??” posts.

Low range radar and people charging around corners at full speed makes it impossible for “situational awareness”.

No it doesn’t. That’s what teammate call outs and listening carefully can make up for. Spartan’s running is a loud distinct sound, it’s hard to get caught off guard unless you are badly positioned or in an intense firefight.

I don’t know what XP rewards get increased by, but for REQs, don’t expect much in a slayer match.
Play Warzone Assault, 5 minutes, 1000+ REQs.
I think REQs build up off of kills in a game. That would explain why BTB, WZ, and WZA give the most. Though Grifball didn’t give out much, considering I got 800 or something for a game where I got 63 kills.
Otherwise, good list. I really hate Spartan Charge. They’ve got to add some boundaries to that. Like sudden change of sprint direction resets the charge up (a 75 degree turn at least), and no lock on.

I think req points are based on time in a game. Sometimes in warzone I’ll only go for AI and get less than 10 Spartan kills, but I’ll still get 2,000 rp.
I am one of the few that thinks getting rid of spartan charge is wack it makes the gameplay faster and is a good means of defending yourself in certain scenarios…If it get’s taken out in halo 6 it going to be slower…and I will not be a fan of that. Personally I know for a fact it is easy to get out of spartan charge even though I have been pecked off a few times with it…It’s not that bad…reason being I do not rely on the radar to get kills. I learn the map…The spartan charge is not training wheels…Most people just do not like the fact that the spartan abilities in this Halo force you to learn the game and the map. People just want red dots on the radar to shoot at…Thats lame…I like the fact that you actually have to know the map…I used to play so many customs with NO radar…I am just seeing what seems to be a lot of people being caught lacking with their backs turn or mid turn around with a spartan charge and cleaned up…That’s how I feel. If spartan charge isn’t in Halo 6 I will feel like it is dumbed down…So if it’s not in there I will feel like all I can do is walk around slow paced with a melee like it’s 2004…and I have a problem with that. Spartans are super soldiers…Common sense would tell you the charge is just a melee attack at top speed and if your back is exposed a back wack…The speed of the game has increased…So this abilities work well…It would really suck if spartan abilities like this were taken out because why would a super solider not be able to harm you using their body…HALO CE was the first shooting game I really played with melee and it was my favorite thing about it I used to play co op with my cousin and we used to melee the -Yoink- out of each other for fun…It is a competitive game…Why shouldn’t people be tackled or harmed to a high degree when people least expect it!? When people complain about stuff like this and get weapons nerfed it ruins games…Like the landmine in H3…After all of the stuff in H3 got nerfed the population SHRUNK…Nerfing and ruining the fun things in video games RUINS them…The people who constantly complain ruin video games…I know some people say that H2 is best and last halo game and hated halo 3 just like some people said reach was stupid because of the jetpack…I am begging you guys to get good at the game and stop sucking the fun and ruining everything because you’re not good at it…
I hate Spartan Charge with a fiery passion. I have no problem with thrust or clamber, but I can’t stand Spartan Charge.
Some real issues that make playability poor:
-
crap hit detection that is inconsistent and frustrating especially un Slayer and in FFA - 3 BR shots to the back, player turns we Melee, they kill me? This is not like WarZone where you have bayonets attached. I mean, come on, what gives when you fire first, drop their shields, you are full shields and as you are about to lay in the final kill shot they kill you with one shot with a magnum? <shaking my head>
-
also, crappy matchmaking in FFA- unranked players should only be paired with other unranked players. I am tired of slogging through a game only to discover that (1) I don’t move up because everyone I played is unranked or (2) if I don’t get 1st or 2nd, my rank goes down when the players are unranked. I say only ranked players would be playing against ranked players so that the match means something, otherwise what’s the point?
Next month I won’t play my 10 games to rank in FFA until about 1 week before the end of the month. At least then I should be playing against mostly ranked players and my efforts won’t be in vain.

I also think Spartan charge is one of the best additions to Halo. It definitely doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. It’s a useful tool when used correctly and it’s easy to protect yourself from with some battlefield wisdom.
Beating a dead horse, you say? That horse was a diabetic!
