Let's Be Honest....

… Halo 4 is not gripping. Not interesting.
Not time consuming.
I don’t wake up looking forward to playing halo 4.

When i play, i play 3 or 4 games before i get bored.

I tried really hard to get to like this game, but i just can’t get that buzz i did with Halo 3.

its fustrating because i love Halo.

I like Halo so much I brought Halo: Cryptum & Halo: Primordium just so i still felt connected to the universe.

I feel guilty for not liking halo 4 multiplayer, but im just being honest with myself.

Even earlier on today in Majestic DLC, i played Slayer on Landfall.

Landall is flipping awesome, but Halo 4 made me not enjoy it.

For a start, WE CAN ALL see where the power weapons are. So everyone just scrambles to the Rockets/Beam rifles straightaway because theres a huge sign telling us where it is.

and then theres the ordinance.

it just makes it ridiculously crazy, and not fair as any noob can just call in a God Cannon for ordinance after getting a couple AR kills & assists.

If landfall was in Halo 3, id love it. If Skyline was in Halo 4, id love it. If monolith… Well you get the picture.

what it boils down to is,

Halo 4 is not true Halo.

There, i said it.

Its a great game, and if it didn’t have the name ‘Halo’ it would be one of the best games ever.

But this game is not halo.

Halo is:

Playing maps over and over again till you know all the little nooks & crannies & weapon drops like the back of your mind.

Starting on a level playing field, the winner walks away, the loser respawns.

Vehicles were a challenge, teamwork or individual brilliance was needed to take one down.

Maps were arena style and smaller, so sprint was not needed for it to feel fast.

UI filtering people that have good connection, or use mics, or don’t etc.

Anyway, thats just how i feel, what do you guys think?

Let this be Halo 5. I can pop in Halo 5 for the amazing Halo experience, and pop-in Halo 4 for an average Halo game. Bungie’s games were TRUE Halo games.

My story is kinda similar.

Wake Up
Do Spops and Campaign Challenges
Play Dominion
Encounter Exile for all 7 matches
Rinse and Repeat

I just hate playing Exile fifty thousand times.

This isn’t a hate thread at all.
It’s just a realization.

I don’t like the multiplayer.

It’s flawed.

It’s not Halo.

It’s a Halo VARIANT. Not a primary.

I hope Halo 5 can bring us us the multiplayer feel that halo 3 had back.

But that way be too late.

Bungie’s Destiny looks fantastic.

I know what you mean OP. Sometimes I think maybe im just tired of Halo altogether, but I dont think that is the case. I played Halo 2 til 3 came out. I played 3 til Reach came out. I played Reach til 4 came out. Now I have played Halo 4 only two times this year! TWO! (check out Doubles and Throwdown).

I know what it comes down to as well. Repetitiveness. EVERY SINGLE GAME IS A DMR FIGHTS. Every CTF is multiflag. Every oddball is normal oddball. Every Big Team is Slayer. Every Team Slayer is normal slayer. We only play Haven and Exile. Spartan Ops has NO replayablity (I didnt bother even finishing it TBH).

BTW im okay with a game that isnt as good as Halo 2/3. In fact I doubt any game will be as good.

For example I LOVED Reach. Was no where near as good as 2/3, but there was still Halo in it. Good gametypes. Good vehicles. No super weapon. Even playing field.

I was okay with AAs in Reach. I mean I wish they never made them, but it wasnt such a problem to me. My beef was DMR sucked (just wanted BR), no CSR, and awful maps.

I enjoy Halo 4 as much as I enjoyed Halo 3. Just needs a custom games finder and I’ll be happy as ever.

OK, if we’re going to be honest here:

I think Halo 4 is as good a game as anyone should expect from a developer that did not create the game in the first place. I’m not totally pleased with the game, nor am I severely disappointed.

Now for the honest part: No one cares if I like the game or not. Why should I care if you do?

???

I love the gameplay of Halo. and I am a True Halo fan. I enjoy the gameplay of the other Halo’s, yet Halo 4 is the only one that I actually enjoy.

And whats all this “its not true Halo” stuff people always say? Do you TRULY understand what makes a Halo game? because from a Gameplay perspective I find that this game fits it just fine. Every time I see that argument people link it with “ENTIRE ENEMY TEEM CALLED AN BINARY CANNON AND TEHY WIN” when in all actuality the chances of getting anything other than Needler, Grenades, or Speed Boost are relatively low. Maybe two people in one match will get a Damage boost but the likelihood of them being on the same team are slim.

You guys that complain were there since Halo 1. Halo 1 “TEH PISTOL IS OP NERF”
Halo 2: “DUEL WELDIN SUK WHERE IS HALO CE PISTOL IT WAS TRU HALO CE = TRU HALO”
Halo 3: “EXUPMENT SUX AN DIS GAEM SLOW AN BAD HALO 2 = TRU HALO”
Halo Reach: “THES GEAM IS NOT HALOO AN BLOOM AND ARMORLOK RUIN GAEM HALO 3 = TRUHALO”
Halo 4: “ORDERANCE AMS NOT GOOD AN ENTIRE TEEM IS BABIES HALO REACH = TRU HALO”

this community is garbage and will never change.

I think we need to stop saying “But it was their first game…they couldn’t have done any better” “How can they be expected to fill such big shoes”

Well they knew what was at stake and the challenge that faced them, and lets not forget a lot of the team members actually migrated to 343 from bungie…therefore they KNOW how to make a good Halo game but simply chose not to.

Yep, on infinity slayer or oddball or king of the hill all i get is Haven, haven and more haven.

But I think I would be happy without the voting system, since it’s the players voting for exile and haven over and over and over.

This is the only thing I don’t agree with. Even though I also dislike it, if it were like any other Halo game, people would just memorize where the power weapons spawn on the map and they would still scramble for it.

Well I do owe a lot to this Halo. Without Halo 4 I never would have gotten into Battlefield 3, started playing Skyrim again, bought Dishonoured, Far Cry and Xcom, and without this Halo I wouldn’t have been able to concentrate on my exams as well.

Thanks Halo 4!

OP is 100% correct. I more or less lived on Halo 3…but Halo Reach/Halo 4 are not the same. They are not real “Halo”

I love Halo 4. Not perfect by any-means, but all 3 aspects of the game have consumed a fair amount of my time. Much more than Reach for sure. I very much so look forward to 343’s second effort and the new technology they will presumably be able to use.

The faster kill-times are something of a godsend to me as I am a lover of the original pistol. If I had it my way (since we are being honest), every halo game would be an original pistol start.

To me Halo 4 solved an issue that has been prevalent since Halo 2’s release, which is the starting weapon. Since I loved the original so much, a single utility weapon to rule them all is highly valuable to me.

While I do agree that the DMR needs a nerf (in aim assist ONLY), and that the BR should be brought up to the DMR’s level. I have never been so happy to have a weapon to start with that worked for every situation.

If it weren’t for the original pistol in halo 1 I would not be playing halo 4 now, as I probably would not have enjoyed the game nor dabbled in console games at all being that I was strictly a PC gamer at the time (and still primarily am).

I do understand many of (not all of) the complaints with the game though.

Edit: Thought I should add that me and my 5 or so friends who play all tend to agree on the subject. A few of us, even myself, have gotten the forerunner books to go along because we enjoyed the store/lore of the new enemies. I am not typically someone who reads books that go along side video games, which is another reason why I am excited for whatever Halo 5 may turn out to be.

Cheers!

I have to agree with you. It really saddens me though, as I have been a long time Halo player. I posted a huge rant about why I hate this game on gamestop, kind of lost control of myself there. Don’t worry, that wont happen here. I have narrowed it down, and there are three big things that are preventing me from enjoyin this game (these are the major ones, trust me, there is alot more).

First, no Invasion. On reach, about 50% of my online game time was spent on Invasion. That’s really alot for ONE game type. I’m not bluffing either. They didn’t even try to replace that gametype, at least they could have done a BF style Rush gametype.

Second, it’s way to much like CoD. That was a reason I so much loved past Halo games, because they were nothing like CoD. This one, feels way to much like it, from the scoring, to the classes. I also find my self playing it like I would a CoD game. Just running around aimlessly, not like previouse Halo games.

Third, it’s just not fun. I actually find myself bored when playing the game. This has never happened in a Halo game before. There is no excitement, nothing getting me amped up. It’s just, boring. I’m not going to force myself to play a game that I don’t have fun with, so for the past few months, I have only played about a total of 7 hours.

There is more, but those are the three big ones. I have given up on Halo now, it was great while it lasted, no doubt. I htink it may just be 343, I mean, when they started messing with Reach, Reach started going down hill. They release a Halo game, it is the worst one. Idk. I’m really looking forward to Bungie’s Destiny though.

Yea man I agree with OP.

> OP is 100% correct. I more or less lived on Halo 3…but Halo Reach/Halo 4 are not the same. They are not real “Halo”

IMO there hasn’t been a real Halo since Halo 2. That was the last time I got the “buzz” you are speaking of. So to me H3 wasn’t true Halo , but who is to say which is right? Me. Because neither of us are “right”. They are opinions for a reason. I played H3 for the social aspect of it , the mechanics IMO were garbage. Honestly why would a Super soldier in powered armor have to lead a target at mid to close range. Why can he not hold a rifle steady(br spread)?

If you can’t find a reason to be happy , don’t play. I’m not saying you opinion isn’t valid , I’m not saying you don’t have a right to it , but let’s not say what is or isn’t Halo because it is all subjective.

> For a start, WE CAN ALL see where the power weapons are. So everyone just scrambles to the Rockets/Beam rifles straightaway because theres a huge sign telling us where it is.

You mean how everyone goes for rockets and sword on the Pit?

You know, HOW EVERYONE ALWAYS GOES FOR POWER WEAPONS. The only difference now is, noobs don’t have to wonder cluelessly to get a handle on things. Which is an improvement.

> Not time consuming.

I would call almost every single commendation in Halo 4 time consuming.
Because it’s certainly not rewarding.

> When i play, i play 3 or 4 games before i get bored.

I could barely play a whole game on Halo 3 without getting bored. Unless it was campaign.

> Halo 4 is not true Halo.

My opinion and yours have differences.

Heh, that was pretty good.
