Lets be honest here...

I understand the new update is disappointing to some and that is somewhat reasonable. Everyone had high expectations for this update, but lets be serious here, you can’t expect 343i to be able to build and polish a falcon in a months time. To be honest I really wanted the grenade launcher to come back, but building the physics for that gun within a month is nearly impossible unless they had a gun that was similar in the game. That is why Jorge’s turret/minigun got released instead. The community needs to be looking at the positives. the carnages report and the matchmaking preference is a huge step in the right direction. Yeah, you can argue it should have been there in the first place but with dedicated servers nobody thought matchmaking preferences would be needed. As for the post game carnage report, the time in between games is filled by spending req points on a pack, so 343i probably didn’t see it as crucial to include it right off the bat. By the time you open a pack, and viewing/selling things, boom match is starting. Viewing medals hasn’t felt relevant since H3, and even with all of this taken into consideration the community wanted this and they delivered.
After the train wreck that was H4, which was 343i’s first game in the franchise, they have made enormous progress. H5, even since launch has just gotten better and better due to them taking the feedback from the community and making it a reality. They catch a lot of flak about things they left out of the game, and they don’t get enough appreciation for all the things they got right.
All im saying is that even though you guys are let down about some things you wanted out of the memories of reach update, it is still going to be a fantastic addition to the game and 343i needs to be praised for the work they’ve put into this update, past updates, and most likely all the ones to come because they have made an incredibly fun game. Hands down the most fun Halo game since Halo 3.

They should not be praised, infection along with the UI changes should of been there at launch, they’ve had 7 months to make this update, it’s incredibly lazy to just add a phaeton variant and reskinned a turret. I’m extremely dissapointed.

Then 343 really shouldn’t string people along, just say, “There will not be a Falcon in this update” and explain why. I find it unlikely they did not know of the hype and that is probably why they put that ONI symbol on the Pheaton card to generate hype. I don’t hate 343 for it as I never expected the Falcon to be in the update anyway since the only bit of Reach related content seems to be the armor, but it was a missed opportunity all the same. 343 just needs to start being honest. They weren’t with the campaign and what happened here sure isn’t helpful either.

They shouldn’t have put an ONI cover up. They should have just blurred the card.

I agree for the most part, 343i does need to be more honest but the falcon would have been a useless addition to the game. It was slow and a easy target, definitely in the sandbox of halo 5.

No matter where there is hype, there is always gonna be some kind of disappointment. The community needs to look at the positives and move on. Telling 343i what we like will give them better feedback for the future.

What counts as positives is subjective. As cool as the armor and skins are, the fact they are tied to the REQ System only means I’ll probably never unlock them for a good long time unless I clear Silver Packs and continuously grind the game since I’m not spending actual cash on REQ Packs. Infection is cool, but it may come as too little too late for many.

343 has over 10 years of Halo history to look back on to see what we like and don’t like.

The point is, as has already been said, 343 knew the community was speculating, heavily, about the Falcon. They should’ve come out and said that it wasn’t the Falcon. They didn’t need to tell us it was a Phaeton, just to keep it a secret, but at the very least let the community know it wasn’t gonna be what they thought it would be.

Let’s be honest here, this update is a joke.

All I see in this update is one map. The UI changes are nice but that shouldn’t be a major part of an DLC update.

We should show them how disappointed we are at this update by not supporting the live stream. Im skipping this one.

all these flavors and everybody is choosing to be salty over the falcon.

It’s not just the falcon, it’s the fact they hyped it up to reveal it to be something most people won’t get for a long time.
They knew that people wanted the falcon, why would they hide a phaeton behind an oni card?

Oni is usually associated with reach, which is were the falcon is from.

It didn’t disappoint me in the slightest, to me this is the best update we’ve got. Love the armor, map changes, new weapons, infection, all the above. The only disappointment is torque remake but I’m not bashing till I play.

They didn’t hype anything up, we ourselves hyped what was behind the card up.

Actually realistically you could make a single vehicle in a months time, a map would take more time than a single vehicle.

  • Models with multiple damage states - animations for every interaction and state - sounds for weapons and collision and idle sounds - weapons programmed in - physics and controls programmed in, including player interaction and linking animation to events - textures for the vehicle - playtestingthink iv got most of it there, this is very much doable for a games studio. now back to the being realistic point.

you are absolutely right, we can’t realistically expect 343I to do this… when have they ever put this much work into one of these content drops, these “free” updates are simply an accuse to inflate the req system even more.

In saying that it is both 343I and the communities fault for this whole mess. 343I shouldn’t have covered the Phaeton with an Oni symbol but ultimately people shouldn’t have hyped something up without any evidence at all.

The falcon is a phaeton with rotors. The “physics” for any object in the game come from physics libraries. All they have to do is define certain properties on the projectile, and the library will take care of the rest.

Not saying it could be done in a month, because I’ve never worked on a game before, but if it couldn’t, it’s certainly not for those reasons.

The only thing that counts in this update for me is the map, which sadly looks like a remix, and the phaeton variant, the phaeton we have now is very weak especially for having such a high req level, so a tougher one sounds nice. I don’t like or care about infection, I would have rather seen action sack added first. Also as far as the UI changes let’s be truly honest and say stuff like that should have definitely been in there from the start… I like H5 but even my patience is wearing a bit thin… they have had YEARS to develop this game and we have gotten way less with this once incredible franchise. I get they built H5 from the ground up but so where other Halo games at some point and we still got a lot more content in a shorter time frame. You would think as technology advances and computers get better that making games and games modes wouldn’t take so long.

At the rate 343 is going we will be lucky to get an H6 before Microsoft says Halo just isn’t worth it because 343 can’t make games… faceplant of a game release and the current state of MCC and the issues piling up with H5, req service issues, lag, lag spikes, monthly updates coming later and later, content taking longer and when we get it it has bugs the list goes on and on…

You realize they plan this updates months in advance, for example the firefight update which they made from scratch, wait I feel like I’m typing this again, so isn’t this a repeat thread? Well I’ve already commented on this, They had less time to make Halo 4 and if you go by the excuses were inexperienced, and managed to have more/better options, R.I.P.

A lot of people mention having problems with the MCC right now but I never encounter any, what am I missing?

I usually don’t but there are times where I get stuck in a searching for games… connecting… searching for games… connecting… type thing. Also I haven’t found games in rumble pit in forever. I usually can only play action sack and btb. I try but usually fail to find games in rumble pit and H2C. Some are saying achievements may or may not unlock at times.
