Let Us Pick From a Variety of Challenge Decks

So right now, a new week of challenges starts, and you’re dealt a deck of 20 challenge cards (+ the ultimate). The challenges you get are the challenges you get, and that’s it.

Instead, when you log in for a new week of challenges, you should receive a prompt to select a challenge deck. As time goes on, there should be a large variety of categories, but my idea would need 5 to implement.

Comp Deck - Your challenge deck will feature a variety of challenges that can be accomplished in ranked games. Things like BR kills, player score in ranked games, ranked KD goals for individual games, ranked wins, etc.

Party Deck - Your challenge deck will feature a variety of challenges that can be unlocked primarily in 4v4 social games. This is things like AR/Pistol kills, cumulative score in 4v4 playlists, cumulative objective score, melee kills etc.

Heavy Deck - Your challenge deck will feature a variety of challenges that can be unlocked primarily in BTB games. This would be similar to the party deck but would also include a higher volume of vehicle challenges than the party deck (warthog gunner kills, driver assists, vehicle deductions, etc).

Solo Deck - A variety of challenges that can be completed primarily in FFA and LSS games. Similar to the Party Deck, but tailored to FFA games instead of team games.

Standard Deck - a variety of challenges from all other decks. Essentially the challenge decks we get right now.

Challenge swaps go two-tier.
Basic CS - Trade an active challenge for a random challenge from your current deck. One is earned every “progression level” similar to MCC’s first extra 100 you get.

Premium CS - Trade an active challenge from a challenge of a deck of your choice. Two challenges are drawn and you pick which one you get. This is only acquired through $ purchase, in addition to BP levels that grant them.

I think this gives players a way better challenge experience and still gives 343 opportunity at revenue, which is the only chance a change would get a green light.

Yo can I get the “stop bloody limiting my active challenges” deck?

I prefer a progression system based on performance, KDA, medals, wins, objectives, et cetera. If I help my team out in whatever way, I earn XP from that. And it shouldn’t matter if that is in quickplay, ranked, BTB, or whatever gamemode I choose.

But what you suggest is infinitely better than the challenge system that we have now, so for that reason an upvote.

id also be ok if they started by changing infinites system to the MCC system… its not perfect but it would be a start

Events, Challenges and the Battle Passes just aren’t enough… there needs to be more to this system. A career progression with commendations and milestones of some kind will inevitably add more for players to be invested in and they might stick around for a while longer. This progression system can be tied to the Battle Pass purchase or something else.

The Career Progression should be a players main concern. Winning, Kills, Assists, Captures, Time in the Hill, Medals, Streaks, getting 500 kills with a weapon, destroying 1,000 vehicles, etc. Challenges should have a more secondary role, that way they aren’t so heavily relied upon. This might make Daily Challenge grinding and Events feel more fresh instead of just Orange colored challenges to add to the chore list.

Commendations(long term challenges from all sorts of different categories) themselves would give players something to invest in. Complete 100 Slayer matches, unlock this cool thing that will make you stand out, just like the Ultimate Reward for the week. Just a simple idea to get players to spend more time in-game and have some fun their own way.

I suggested something similar last season. You could pick from easy, medium, and hard “decks.” They would all grant the same weekly reward upon completion, but the harder challenges give more XP. This way light players could still get the weekly, but have slower progress on the season pass.

I like your suggestion much better, though. It allows players to customize their experience closer to what they like to do.

I play with a couple friends once a week, during that time very few of my challenges are progressed because my active challenges are clogged. If I were to choose the “party deck” you suggest I could actually make some progress and might be motivated to actually get more of the weekly rewards.

I thought about detailing a “hardcore” vs regular variant of each pack, where the hardcore would have extra XP but be harder.

I figured my post is already kinda long without that though . And it didn’t super impact the goal of a system where we play what we want and 343 still gets their money lol

TBH I’d just like to progress all 20 challenges all at once.

Basically, you’re saying you want to be done with all your challenges in one or two hours.

I mean if the only alt is to have identical challenges like Kill 20, head shot 10, kill 25, head shot 15, melee 3, melee 5, play 10, play 2… Yeah I’d rather get them progressed all at the same time instead of being throttled by the current system.

No, I would like 3-6 hours of gameplay, mostly in the Halo module I enjoy the most. Imo there’s a clear separation of competitive/ranked, 4v4 Social, and BTB. I wasn’t sure how FFA and LSS fit in, so they kinda seem like their own module too.

Right now I feel like unlocking a weekly is just grinding through a bunch of stuff I don’t want to do if I want the cosmetic. I think there’s improvements to the system that would be mutually beneficial to us and 343

I have a better idea.

Put the challenges in the bin. And earn XP based on a players individual skill.

Sorry, the forums aren’t really clear sometimes. I was replying to BurningWidow’s suggestion to have all challenges active at all times.

Yea, I wish it wouldn’t remove the quotes and ‘replied to’ indicator when you’re replying to the most recent message in a thread…

I wouldn’t mind this tbh (progressing all challenges at once). It’s similar to how BF4 did its version of challenges back in the day (and MCC’s season challenges)

A DLC dropped with a bunch of different challenges that would unlock, but you could progress every single one of them every game. They just had higher bench marks to achieve. For example, any weekly challenge we have like "get 10 kills with weapon X’ would just have the benchmark go up to 25.

I really liked this approach because I could support whatever my team needed most at the time, but also make challenge progression. Right now we often have top choose between competing challenges, or making plays that help the team which stinks.
