Let us download the Map Pack a day earlier

So I’m not saying to let us used that but open the download a day before and let us download it so the next day we just enjoy. With the crimsom map pack I had to wait about 3 hours for the dl to finish with the Majestic map pack I download it with the glitch that happened a few days before the release so the day that majestic was out it was only a few mins from 99% to 100% it was magical it just… ugh I loved that.

If they did that, then the whole incident that happened with Crimson would surely arise again leading to more issues down the road. Just imagine Castle comes out on the ninth and everything will be fine… Also, it should not take three hours to download a map pack, just saying.

How would thw crimsom map pac thing would happen again? the crimsom thing was ppl who did not paid getting it and then microsoft taking it away.

ofc the dl would only be open for ppl who paid for it.

First off.

Second, the Xbox LIVE firmware is too old and dated to implement a pre-order/download early style format like Steam has.

Third, the Crimson map pack incident can easily happen again since they are opening a download connection a day before. They can’t lock content download to a harddrive without a console bricking.

Fourth, who cares? It has a release date (a generous and close one at that). If you have issues downloading it the first time, it happens, not everything works as planned.

I downloaded up to 98% on the last map pack a week prior. It was on the dashboard.

When the release date came around, it finished downloading which was like two seconds.

Just sayin.

But why risk it from Microsoft’s point of view? They messed up once again, and they could have started banning people if they wanted to who downloaded it early. Don’t believe me? Read the ToS.

Also, that just kills your bandwidth, having a lingering and paused download. Not drastically, but overtime it adds up.

It might kill your bandwidth but its only for 1 day before so everyone the day its released can only sit and enjoy insted of being 4 hours waitong for the dl to finish.

Neither is mine, but lingering downloads can take up bandwitdth. The fact of the matter though is Microsoft won’t do this ever.

Going back to the OP though, he said it took him 3 hours to download Crimson… That is hamster powered internet.

Seriously, it should take, at most, 20 minutes.

Not if you have DSL. It honestly takes 1-5 hours to download anything from 500MB to 2GB. You don’t understand how frustrating it is knowing that every single time a DLC is released I have to wait at least an hour to play.

An hour isn’t that bad. Why not download it when it comes out, go back to sleep, and come back to it in the morning?

> If you have DSL, you probably shouldn’t be playing online shooters…

Why? I don’t lag and don’t cause lag. I meet the XBL requirements. Please, don’t suggest that I should upgrade my internet either because you don’t know me or my financial situation.

I have the same as you it takes alot of time to download something like a dlc the internet on my country uts just horrible as theres only about 2 providers and I don’t couse lag or have lag on MM.

> An hour isn’t that bad. Why not download it when it comes out, go back to sleep, and come back to it in the morning?

I have this problem where I can’t go back to sleep after I wake up regardless of the amount of sleep I get(Even if I could go back to sleep this could be avoided if we were able to pre-dl). I always do find other things to do while downloading like clean my apartment, shower, eat, etc… It would just be nice to be able to wake up whenever and just be able to play. It would be much more convenient. Anyone with DSL would agree that pre-dl’s would be nice. If you had DSL you would think the same.

I suspect there are a variety of network, server, and console configurations that make this kind of ad hoc change highly unlikely.

It use to take a day & a half for me to get dlc’s when i was on satellite, best package even. Yea, i prefer dlc, cheaper & faster, just its not progressed into the countries & this person sounds like thats where he’s at, what you expect him to do, pack up his xbox 360 to town to a friends house & download it, I don’t think anyone would want to. Bandwidth may be some monkey’s foot or real, but i’m saying wouldn’t hurt the bandwidth when it already takes 1 person a day & a half to download 2 GB? Same principle.

But it wasn’t even downloading early. As soon as you reached 98 or 99% it would stop because it didn’t have some license on it or something. I done that and then on release day, started it up again and it finished in about a minute (probably less). Why would they ban people for that?

> Not if you have DSL. It honestly takes 1-5 hours to download anything from 500MB to 2GB. You don’t understand how frustrating it is knowing that every single time a DLC is released I have to wait at least an hour to play.

I also have a standard DSL broadband connection, which has a top speed of around 16MB/sec but is usually around the 4-5 MB/sec mark. Both maps packs downloaded in the 20-30 min area for me. So yeah, you must have a bad internet connection.
