Halo is so much more fun to play with Bandana. You can pick your favorite weapons, be it the Battle Rifle, the dual SMGs, or even dual Magnums and fire away to your heart’s content without ever having to stop and scrounge for ammunition.
It makes the biggest difference in Halo 2 and Halo 3 where ammo is more scarce for UNSC weapons than other games in the collection… and I imagine it will make a big difference in Halo 4 when Bandana is added to that game as well, seeing as Halo 4 reduces the amount of ammo you can carry and the amount you find throughout each level to a ridiculous degree.
Which is why I hate that half of the PvE weekly challenges can’t be completed when the Bandana skull is on. Challenges that require to complete campaign missions like “Narrative Navigator” do not progress.
Since 343 is abandoning it’s plans for microtransactions and looking at ways to make it easier to earn Spartan Points in the future, one way they could do this is by increasing the score multiplayer for Bandana to x1.00 and allowing all PvE challenges to progress when the skull is enabled.
TL;DR: I have the most fun playing Halo’s campaign with the Bandana skull enabled, and I hate having to turn it off just to complete my weekly challenges. Allowing weekly challenges to be completed with the Bandana skull would make it less of a chore and give players more freedom to play the game the way they want.
It’s a minor annoyance for me, having to turn it off, as I found very efficient ways to do the PvE challenges. But I wouldn’t be opposed to make it an exception.
While I feel this would make it make the challenges infinitely less “challenging”
There really is only a select few missions I choose to efficiently do the challenges with already game-breaking skulls that don’t disable anything, Like Sputnik+Feather+Pinata in Halo 2, and Boom+Pinata in Halo CE.
If Bandanna was granted maybe I wouldn’t boredly speedrun Pillar of Autumn on legendary twice in a row almost every week.
That being said, the PvP challenges already take more effort to get than the PvE ones…
I completely agree. Many of the skulls are centered around choosing a way to play - Bandana, Scarab, and Acrophobia are for choosing to become a god, and that makes things far too easy. Especially since many achievements aren’t negated by these skulls so they aren’t affected.
Bonded Pair and Envy I think are the only two that shouldn’t negate challenges - they ease your experience, but aren’t completely game breaking. I’ve always thought a good way to differentiate them between the others is to drop their score to 0.01, so it’s obvious they don’t negate challenges like the others, but they don’t make your Par Score challenges too easy either.
Actually no, they’re not. “Challenges” is just a generic term game devs chose for what could be more adequately described as “tasks”… or “chores”.
Most challenges only require you to play a certain game mode for a certain amount of time. Two of the weekly PvE challenges require you to only complete campaign missions; why not let us use Bandana for those?
Others require you to earn points, require you to complete them in 20 minutes, or beat missions on Legendary. There are already plenty of methods for speedrunning and farming missions to complete them as quickly as possibly, so there’s no “challenge” to it to begin with.
Don’t even get me started on the PvE challenges that require you to get kills. All you have to do is go into Firefight, enable Infinite Ammo and Invulnerability, and you can be done with those in five minutes.
There’s no reason not to allow Bandana for weekly challenges when players are already using all of these methods to cheese them anyway.
I am definitely against allowing Bandana doing challenges with that on. They are called challenges for a reason. One way to solve that and I have been asking for this like forever is bring in Campaign Matchmaking to get help with others to complete the challenges makes this more fun rather than doing it by yourself, which at this point has gotten extremely boring for me doing them by myself every week.
No they’re not. You’re taking the term “challenges” way too seriously. Most of them just require you to complete campaign missions or farm kills. That’s not a “challenge”, it’s a chore.

Once again, you’re taking the term “challenges” way too seriously. Me, I actually prefer to play solo, and the problem isn’t that Campaign missions are difficult… it’s just that it’s more fun to play them with Bandana on, especially in Halo 2 and Halo 3 where using UNSC weapons like the Battle Rifle and dual SMGs means having to constantly scavenge for ammo.
This is about giving players the freedom to play the game the way they want while being able to complete challenges. If some players want to use cheats in a single-player PvE mode, they should be allowed to. Simple as that.
