Let’s all face it, the mongoose is underpowered compared to the Ghost. That’s because the Ghost can splatter people easier and has guns. But I was thinking, what if a driver of the Mongoose could shoot his gun?
But here is the catch, while the driver is shooting, it disorientates the driver, and distracts him from driving.
I say no to that. I think the Mongoose is underpowered, but I think a simple speed boost would help. Make it the fastest vehicle in the game, since it lacks on the offensive side and it doesn’t have a large carrying capacity.

Mongoose is underpowered? I would rather face a ghost than a mongoose with a sniper/rocket guy on the back.
But in all seriousness the mongoose just meant to be a simple transport vehicle where map might require faster movement for flag carrying or what not and a warthog or revenant is to powerful.
If I’m passenger and I get this noob driver (hehe) who thinks it’s cool to shoot every 5 seconds and hit nothing, then I’m in a big trouble if you know what I mean.
I see mongooses (mongesses? idk) as a fast type of transportation. And it can carry 2 at a time, even 3 lolz
> Too many complications I say.

thats a problem with teammates not the proposed mechanic.
I think people should be able to shoot their weapon at whatever direction the look at. there simply is no rational reason not to
This actually sounds like a really cool idea. I’m not sure how it would affect gameplay, but it could open up some really cool possibilities for animations. It could actually work pretty decently if you were only allowed to accelerate, decelerate, and reverse.
I still feel that it’s sort of unnecessary and might cause something or the other to go wrong. Maybe this could be the role for a motorcycle type vehicle.
Its not underpowered. It is a different type of vehicle than the ghost. The ghost is more of an attach vehicle, the mongoose is support. The mongoose is used to quickly escort a flag carrier, and transport a teamate. Sure, a person driving a mongoose solo is pretty pointless unless he wants to get somewhere quick, but the mongoose has its strengths. It is also the most easy vehicle to control IMO. Very quick and agile.
The vehicle sandbox was never designed to be split down the UNSC and Covenant lines so that each vehicle is a direct counterpart and directly equal to it’s rival. So disregard the notion that the Mongoose needs to equal the Ghost. It doesn’t. Even if you could shoot your weapon it still wouldn’t be equal.
And assuming you could shoot your weapon you’re left with two possible outcomes: The weapon is fixed or you can point where the weapon goes. If it’s fixed you are forced to make strafing runs on the enemy. You undoubetly won’t kill them in one pass with just an AR or DMR so that means you have to spend time swinging back around to make another pass. Time for them to run, to hide, to regen their shields, or shoot you in the back of the head. If it isn’t fixed then you loose your ability to drive worth a dam. Either you stay focused on driving with your view locked directly behind in third person and you can’t aim at anyone to your sides. Or if you can aim freely, you can’t see the road directly ahead of you.
So no. The driver shouldn’t be able to use his weapon to attack people. More trouble than it’s worth for a feature that won’t turn out well. If you want to kill people while using the Mongoose then get someone to ride shotgun.
