let talk halo 5 what weapons u think is op

i think the smg is a little op

So far the SMG seems to be the only weapon I can see ever becoming OP. The weapon sandbox is extremely well balanced this time around.

I would have said smg and shot gun but they have already adressed that issue with shot gun. I hope they will bring back bloom for the smg or just nerf the damage

This.

Unless they bring back the Boltshot

I think that only the legendary weapons are going to be OP. They’re pretty much supposed to be OP anyway.

Haven’t played the full game so its hard to say. Videos often give warped perceptions of actual effectiveness so I’m going to wait for the actual game before I comment further.

The Boltshot itself was never OP even pre-patch. Its the Boltshot in loadouts that was the problem.

As for the SMG I think it needs a damage nerf. Right now it has a really fast killtime and a huge magazine. The Storm Rifle has as similar killtime but overheats very quickly, meanwhile the SMG can spray down multiple players with ease. I don’t want it to get a huge nerf, but it definitely needs to be adjusted before launch or it will make the AR and storm rifle pretty pointless on any map with SMGs.

-Yoink!-!! You guys have Halo 5 already?!? I’m jealous.

Playing the beta and watching pro tournaments isn’t enough for us to at least have a voice on the weapons?

No, considering you don’t have experience using the weapons first hand, and rather watched someone use it on a video. The Beta was a while ago, and has had many changes.

True, final judgment can only come once I have the game. However, it’s our right to be able to have a somewhat educated opinion after using them firsthand in the beta.

To say that we can’t have any opinion at all until we have the final game in our hands is not really fair. What if the guns were extremely out of balance or we could thrust nonstop with no cooldown? Would we still have no right to voice our opinion then?

You need to have an actual educated opinion then. Watching someone else use a weapon, doesn’t mean they used it correctly. Or if you played the Beta literally MONTHS ago, and final tweaks, implementation of more/less ammo, higher/lower attacks, faster/slower firing rate, etc. Sorry, you can make assumptions all you’d like, but that’s not very educated in my opinion.

Like I said, final judgment cannot be made until I finally can play the game for myself. That being said, if the AR could kill in 3 shots, would I be out of line to say that it needs to be changed even though I haven’t actually played it?

It stands to reason that since the AR received a range nerf after the beta that the SMG will also have to have a range nerf as well to keep the sand box balanced

I personally felt that the AR was rather OP in the beta super fast kill time increased range and bonus’ added through ADS, you could probably put the SMG in the same category, I felt it killed too quickly at too great a distance

That being said of course we won’t know for sure unitl we play the games final build…I just hope it doesn’tt take them 6 months to re-balance everything if they mess something up like in H4

Not very likely to happen considering the amount of testing and refinement on these weapons that has been tested by both the public in the beta and pros in tournaments.

The 6 months to re-balance everything has already essentially happened, starting with all the feedback on the beta and likely adding the finishing touches following Gamescom.

Probably Smg, the same complaint from people in beta, and pros are still opting for the smg over AR.

That’s like saying playing a game at release doesn’t count either because it can be subject to weapon balancing a few months later.

Back OT, I used to think the Hydra was garbage until I learned it’s tracking feature could shoot around cover.

we can’t really say seeing as the game isn’t out yet. People said Halo 4 was super balanced until the Boltshot, DMR, Active camo/promethean vision loadout was discovered. Saying all this though, Halo 5 will be more balanced than Halo 4 in general because of the concept of equal starts returning.
