Let’s make a pact as a Halo community as a whole to stand by Infinite. We haven’t had a new Halo for 7 years. To long has the Halo community been divided, splintered, and toxic. Halo is the only game unjustly criticized to the harshest degree by not just fans but by media as well. I’ll never forget an IGN Fix segment where the host criticized minor details of Halo, how come they don’t do that to other AAA games that are well more deserving of it?
We as a Halo community have allowed that to happen and foster. I’m not saying let’s accept everything blindly, but let’s change our tone how we approach topics and not bash on our beloved franchise. Your reading this right now on Halo Waypoint. You are a hardcore fan. We love and care about Halo. We can change our community for the better at the roots. Let’s come together as a community to enjoy this last Halo game. Let’s be welcoming to the new generation of Spartans, stepping forth on Zeta Halo. Remember why are are here. Let no one throw dirt or talk down on our favorite game of all time! If they do we will burn their mongrel hides!!

No.
343 Industries still has a lot to prove and blind fanboyism isn’t what they need. By all means people should provide constructive feedback both good and bad. But personally I refuse to really yield to the hype. They burned a lot of my goodwill with 5 and they have a lot of work to do to build back trust.

No offense but I’d expect better from you, your always posting on here and clearly have a passion for Halo. Then why are you here if you have no hope for the future of Halo. I’m not talking about blind fanboyism, but dang it really seems like 343 is trying to recapture that magic and not sidelining the old fans. I’m not talking about throwing all your money at Halo products. I’m talking about how we approach things as a Halo community as a whole. We are toxic as hell, we are the Star Wars fans of the gaming world.

I don’t personally care about anyone’s expectations about me. Doesn’t matter.
I’ve got a lot of problems with the community, but as an “old fan” I’ve felt sidelined ever since 5 basically said screw everything 4 was trying to do with the narrative. Now all Infinite seems to do is basically ignore 5 and start all over again. We’re on 343’s third main game and haven’t had a consistent story in 8 years.
People can be won over by fancy art styles and talk of “mystery”, but I’ve seen 343 say all the right things that push all the right buttons only to be burned by them majorly when that doesn’t actually happen, see what happened with Halo 5’s advertising.
343 simply has back up their talk with a quality product. Until then, I’m keeping expectations low.

I refuse to believe you have given up then, do you not agree as Halo fans we should have a better community rather then a toxic dumping ground of constant bad energy?
All I’m saying is I want to enjoy and talk about Halo without having someone always freaking complaining about something. Reminds me of that meme “don’t mess with Halo fans. We don’t even like our own games!”
No. I think it’s a bad idea to discourage criticism and people’s unique opinion. I will say that i am confident that halo infinite will be good, but if it ain’t, it won’t have any mercy from me. I just can’t imagine a whole community unanimously pretending they love the same thing. there is no good reason to do this.
It’s a nice gesture but I gotta disagree. Articles dissing a popular franchise is just fishing for clicks, that’s honestly their job. It’s up to the individual reader to determine how much they trust it.
And secondly, this community goes insane with speculation and overhype. Large groups pretending that Infinite is going to be the best game in the world and avoiding anything negative about it is a mistake. When things don’t exactly match expectations, hopes, and rumours the internet community gets unreasonably mad. I remeber
But I don’t want to -Yoink- on your excitement too much. I am really glad to see your optimism and excitement for the game! Regardless of how much of the talk is positive, people are excited for Haloagain. It is make gaming media headlines. YouTube is discussing it and every time a new bit of news comes out you’ll see people digging down for the deepest details possible. All the gaming subreddits on reddit have a post about the Inside Infinite blog, ign are sharing screenshots, PCgamer are regularly posting articles to our newly introduced PC Fanbase. There is so much Halo to be excited for, the community is the most active I’ve seen it since Halo 4 was announced.
Keep up the hype, but don’t be upset when the game does have negative aspects like bugs, microtransactions, or even a poor story. Ultimately my point is hype = good. Fanboying and overhype? Not so good.
Like the other replies, No. I’ll vote with my wallet this time, I’ll buy Halo Infinite if 343i make a game I want. There’s far too many let downs these days. As always, I will try and be fair with my feedback and see both sides of every story and the various points of view. I’m looking forward with caution and hype will remain firmly in check here.
I’m not going to, and refuse to blindly follow & defend something for no reason other than [people having negative opinions on the current state of the Halo franchise]
Differing opinions is healthy for discussion and funnels the discussion to compromises and agreements with what people wish to see in Halo, to disregard this discourse all together for the sake of blindly rallying behind a franchise you like, is silly.
TL;DR constructive criticism people, don’t just hate. I’ll stick with the game as long as it’s fun. I’ve been playing Apex for 2 years, I really hope it’s fun lol
Dang, was not expecting these responses. Criticism is good but should remain objective at this point, not take the sniper screenshot and turn the scope lens green because 343 bad bungie good.
OP also mentions welcoming new players. These new players won’t give a -Yoink- about 90% of the gripes people have with this game. They’ll then see “lore this” and “armor that” and question if they are right to be having the fun that they are having.
If the game needs to be ripped to pieces I’ll do it but not because of petty things like no visual ammo counter.

Op I get where you’re coming from the same as I get where Halsey’s coming from as I share a lot of Halsey’s concerns psot-5. Unlike Halsey I think I have mostly been won back already by Halo Wars 2, what they’ve been doing with the extended universe, and the messaging that we’ve seen so far. That said, Halsey is right that blind fanboyism won’t get anyone anywhere - but likewise neither will bowing to clickbaity hyperbolic nonsense.
Unpopular choices need to be flagged so the devs can understand why something didn’t land: is it tuning, is it the concept, is it what it replaced, etc. This needs to happen in a constructive fashion though. None of this ‘whoever came up with this nonsense needs to be fired’ type flame war raging.
Examples: the community clearly disliked Loadouts in Halo 4 MP. That was simply iterating on them from Reach which by comparison although i wouldn’t necessarily call them popular I don’t remember the same bashlash against Reach’s MP specifically for loadouts. Why did that happen? Multiple possibilities:
The noise made about Bloom in Reach drowned out feedback about Loadouts - certainly possible. If so mistakes made on both sides. - The community actually didn’t mind the concept of loadouts, but the H4 execution didn’t land like the Reach one did - if so mistakes on the dev side around UX and balancing. - The community gave the devs the impression that they like loadouts in Reach - well there are possibly some UX failures but primarily that’s on the community. We can’t ever make the community’s interaction about who can shout loudest - and that includes people being overwhelmingly positive. No game is perfect - there’s always constructive criticism to give. We all need to harness that to avoid hyperbolic threads like ‘If minor feature y isn’t infinite they’ll kill the franchise’ or ‘Infinite is going to be the best ever because minor feature y isn’t there’. That way lies madness and toxicity. You need to understand why others in the community feel differently to you. You won’t always be able to agree, but it’s about understanding why someone feels that way.
Skully clearly likes Apex and finds it fun. Personally I don’t, but that’s okay. We both agree that Infinite needs to be fun to play. He’s given an example of something he finds fun and good to him for it.
