I want to love this game, I want it to literally be the new halo of old but it just hasn’t got that feel to it. The game is literally like a COD game when you compare to halo 2 and 3. The unique feel which halo 2 and 3 had to them has completely vanished from this game and you can deny it as much as you like but you know deep down I’m right.
343 have tried time and time again to recreate that halo feel which previous bungie halos had but it’s never happened. The sounds of weapons, the Stupid AI commentary, the TTK, the complete unbalance of different guns, medals, the general style of gameplay, and also the speed of this halo is just not what the OG halo fans knew and loved.
This game will get old really quickly, and deep down you know I’m right. I didn’t even spend the whole night playing it every time I had a 4 hour window, it just got boring quickly. Halo 2 and 3 never made me feel like that. The flow of the game just isn’t right, I can’t put my finger on what it is but it just feels like a quick paced shooter with 343 trying to replicate halo with a shoddy remake. It has nothing to do with “games change”. That is a lazy response pure and simple. 343 have just never got the dynamics of the game right. It’s just straight facts. It is not a coincidence that the franchise has died ever since 343 took it over. Halo 2 and 3 were one of the biggest games out there when they were released and were played for YEARS and still are to this day. Halo 4 and 5 lasted what 3 months if that?
they just don’t get halo and it’s a real shame.
I’d be extremely concerned if this felt like a 17 year old game.
Halo 2 and 3 had so much competition lol.

I’m just talking about the general feel of it.
it just doesn’t feel like a halo game. Halo was unique when it came out, it was different to other games. Now it just feels like a fast paced shooter with metal looking soldiers. It’s lost it’s roots.

The sad thing isn’t that it doesn’t feel like a 17 year old game, it’s that 17 year old games felt better

They did. The same amount as current day’s Halo does.

Literally this.
One thing I can’t get over is the sliding. It feels slow and clunky, definitely not a smooth mechanic.

There was no other game like Halo when Halo released. That’s different now, shooters are the most popular genre out right now, and alot of these franchises took alot of their inspiration from Halo. Shooters would not be what they are now without Halo, so when you consider that, of course Halo is also going to innovate and change.
No -Yoink- it doesn’t feel like it released in 2004. This is a modern game made for next generation consoles and next generation gamers.
There are alot of gamers coming to Halo Infinite who weren’t even alive when Halo 2 or Halo 3 came out, you understand that right? They don’t want to play an old-school game, they want a game they can enjoy and relate to
Completely agree im already over infinite once the new feel wore off its just felt too much like halo 5 and 4. It does have potential but i dont think 343 is listening to the original fans infinite seems to cater new audience
Been playing Halo since I was 4, don’t plan on stopping.
I’ve enjoyed every single game so far. No, they’re not all perfect but they all have elements that I enjoy, and they all play different than almost every other FPS on the market.
I will play the absolute crap outta Infinite, and can guarantee I’ll enjoy most of it.
Also if you’re on the fence for this game, just buy gamepass for one month and test it out!
edit-(I mean use gamepass for campaign!)
I’m not sure it will, while it may not click with a lot of us older fans, there is most likely going to be a pretty big influx of new fans that will keep the game alive. It has nearly all of the modern elements that click with the new crowd of players and with the MP being free to all Xbox players, it’s easy access alone will keep it alive for a long time probably.

Do you realise you just contradicted yourself? The whole point of making a new halo is to make a newer version of the previous one. You stick to what worked when you try to keep a franchise going. Halo 2 and 3 were the most popular games out there. You wouldn’t change your audience to fit a different crowd. The whole reason halo is so big is because of how good the old game were. 343 have tried to replicate that and failed.

I also got bored, and quickly. I just didn’t see any apparent draw. Nothing really exciting or exceptional happens in any particular game (especially since the AR is basically a power weapon). What’s supposed to be fun about holding down the ‘fire’ button in a game where first-shot wins 90% of encounters because of the TTK?

They won’t keep it alive though because halo 4 and 5 died as quickly as they come out and this is just as similar as it is to that. If 343 are trying to attract a different audience they really are stupid because they have tested it twice with 4 and 5 and both failed to take hold.

Not all the original fans are the same. I’m an original fan and Halo Infinite is shaping up to be my favourite Halo game.
343 gave us the MCC lmao. They have kept the classic Halo’s alive. People who want to play them can continue to do so. Think the population is evidence that modern gamers want something different now if the population is gonna return to peak H3 numbers.
I can’t even tell yet how long it will entertain myself. So I definitely lack the skill to foresee how long it will entertain the masses.
I agree about infinite not having that halo feel. The sounds of the weapons, grenades and melee especially feel off. They feel like they’re from another shooter game. I also don’t like how many random random noises are going on as your trying to play and listen for enemies. The fast ttk and medals are also not like halo. Infinite is still fun, I just don’t know if I like it more than any of the previous Halos yet. I hope the ttk is increased and the game overall is good at launch.

Yes but Halo 4 or 5 didn’t have the free to play live service element to it. It’s not a matter of me or you like the game, it’s a matter of how many other people do and will play it, which there are a lot. If you look at the reception for this game, it’s actually mostly positive and some of the biggest streamers and YouTubers are gonna be sticking with this game for the long run it looks like, which in turn will keep it alive. I’m just as upset about some of the changes or lack there of in some cases but this isn’t a complete repeat of H4 or H5.

Halo Infinite is a spiritual reboot designed to be a new chapter for old fans and an entry point for new fans. I’ve been playing since Combat Evolved, I’ve played every Halo for years, I was there for the midnight release of Halo 3. Every Halo game has been vastly different from each other Halo Infinite is no different. As far as feel goes, yeah it feels different. Alot has changed for the franchise, alot of it is stuff that we as a community asked for.
This game is being made for the next generation of Halo fans, but without completely alienating old fans. If you’re an old fan who doesn’t like most of what Infinite has to offer and you’re the same kind of guy that asks for toggles for just about everything, I hate to say it but your time has unfortunately passed. We need to change, we need to evolve. Alot of the changes being made in Infinite is for good reason and it’s been carried out amazingly. Does it have issues that could use some attention? Of course, every game does.
343 isn’t trying to replicate anything. It’s not about replication. It was never about replication.
