Let’s contribute our grain of sand with positivism 2.0

So, here we are, after all this and having been wanting to write I have decided to create this post. So, I ask you, HOW would you make the necessary changes to fix the main problems in Halo Infinite? I do NOT mean what, but how you would do it.

In my case, with my grain of sand, I would like to focus on the challenge system. Everyone knows that it needs to be completely fixed and changed, but few people comment on how to do it. This is my vision:

  • A challenge system is always welcome when it is ADDITIONAL to a main progression system, it should never have been the main focus of the multiplayer experience.
  • Weekly challenges should be permanent, and related to the current season. In this way you can develop groups of challenges that share a main theme. For example: Sniper Challenges.
  • Being themed challenge packs, the final prize will be something related to that theme, but it would be an object of remarkable value.

A system of weekly challenges that were related to the battle pass would add extra value to it. Having this PERMANENT system of challenges that are unlocked week after week allows players to complete these challenges whenever they want, eliminating any existing FOMO system in it.

In addition, being permanent causes an accumulation of content to be done that allows the player to return whenever they want and have something to do without having to turn each game session into an experience focused on them. One day you may want to play a few games with your friends, the next day you can advance a little with the challenges of the first pack of seasonal challenges.

It could be possible to discuss the possibility that these permanent challenge packs were only available when buying the battle pass. Or maybe you can only get the final prize after completing everything if you buy that pass. This is already something to debate.

An example of this would be Fortnite, who has these challenge packs that by completing them whenever we want throughout the season allows us to acquire the final object. Of course, in the case of Fortnite, these packs are not permanent, but it is a very clear example of what I mean.

Having a main progression system based on ranks that we get for our profile, along with a system of complementary challenges and a battle pass, I see it as a good base to be able to expand the development of Halo Infinite. And even not only enclosing the challenges for PVP, but also for PVE modes, campaign, Forge, etc…

What do you think? What else would you do to change the challenge system? Or any other negative aspect of Halo Infinite.

I’ll use my post to retool some customization. I would add an “IsWacky” tag to armor and coatings, and then provide players with an option to toggle off armor and coatings that are deemed outlandish to the art style of the game.

Similarly would include a toggle for weapon customization for players who just want to see default looking weapons instead.

I had to cut part of my original message to be able to rewrite this topic. Let’s at least try to get something constructive out of all this.

Halo Infinite is a game. Of all the First Person Shooters out there, it definitely is one of them. Halo Infinite is one of the FPS games to also have a player base.

I think this sums it up pretty much.

I would agree that the challenge system is definitely near the top of the list of things that need to be changed in order to make the game more enjoyable for the majority of players.

It’s frustrating and just not fun for the game to tell you how to play it by funneling you into certain playlists or playstyles in order to progress on your weekly challenge deck. It’d be a ton better if we had challenges that resembled the following, at least until there’s an underlying progression system.

  • Earn X Cumulative Personal Score in PvP (Across any/all PvP modes)
  • Deploy equipment X times in PvP (any mode)
  • Win X PvP Matches (any mode)
  • Earn X Kills (any more)
  • Earn X Assists (any mode)
  • Earn X number of Style Medals in PvP (any mode)
  • Finish a PvP match With X Personal Score/# of Kills (any mode)
  • Earn X PvP kills using UNSC Weaponry (any mode)
  • Earn X PvP kills using Covenant/Banished Weaponry (any mode)
  • Earn X PvP kills using Forerunner Weaponry (any mode)

Those last three are a bit worse than the rest since they do force a player to use certain weapons, and I understand that some of these challenges already exist. I think the game would be much better if these sorts of challenges were the only types in the game, though. They’re the kinds of things that aren’t necessarily easy to achieve and require some effort, but don’t force players to ignore the objectives of whatever mode they’re playing (including Slayer) in order to check entirely arbitrary challenges off of their weekly decks.

Makes playing the game more enjoyable for everyone since people might actually pay a bit more attention to playing matches to win and have fun rather than to complete random challenges.

weekly challenges permanent for the duration of the season is better because indeed as you told you want to make time to play with friends, or have other things to do

this thread(s) is funny btw XD

I’m guessing he’s positive that Infinite is irredeemable lol.

Here’s the changes I would make:

  • Make it so bullets always deal damage
  • Make it so bullets can’t turn around corners
  • Make it so melee hits always deal damage
  • Make it so grenades always deal damage
  • Make spawns that aren’t completely random
    But most importantly:
  • Make it so when you make an input, the game responds to that input

Here’s how I would do it:

  • Remove the “math.random” function in front of the function that deals bullet damage
  • Remove the “math.random” function in front of the collision box
  • Remove the "math.random "function in front of the function that calculates melee hit damage
  • Remove the "math.random "function in front of the function that calculates grenade damage, and put back in the same one that uses radius from previous games (CTRL+C, CTRL+V)
  • Remove the "math.random "function in front of the function that determines spawning, and put back in the same one that uses safety and range parameters from previous games, excluding Halo CE (CTRL+C, CTRL+V)
  • For the input feature, simply bind keys to features, such as shooting or melee hitting. Then, remove the math.random function in front of those inputs, that way every time you press the button, the corresponding action occurs.

The game should be much more enjoyable this way.

I would increase the monetary value of the campaign price tag by adding additional content to branch out the Halo universe surrounding Infinite.

A series of anthology campaigns that are all around 3-5yrs long.

Ideas:

#1 A highcom Gamma Spartan III assigned to the protection of Lord Hood, previously a Headhunter the Spartan becomes an injured and very old Hood’s enforced as you rally the UNSC on Mars, fighting the remnants of the Created.

#2 Thel; The Arbiter does not believe the gloating transmission of the Banished. Fighting through Banished controlled territory the Swords of Sanghelios must find a way to locate Zeta Halo and help the Master Chief.

#3 Warlords Pavium and Voridus attack the Spartan Academy on Reach in force, Commander Arygna & our own MP Spartan must face the wrath of the HW2 Banished and all their various instruments of war. (Bring in the Goliath hunters)

i would simply highlight all of the parts of the game that have to do with controls/aiming in mcc,
ctrl c.
then ctrl v over the correlating parts of infinite.
as for challenges, i would repeat the process but with the challenge section.
