Let’s bring back H5 weapon attachments

But Fos, shouldn’t we reward that player who has some longer range because he was analyzing his gameplay, and decided that was a good complement to it?

Maybe the player is more defensive, and frequently notices that enemies could be more effectively engaged with a bit of extra range in a large number of engagements after reviewing gameplay in the theater.

Same thing with a more sneaky crouch heavy player making use of silencer. We need to start asking if this is the direction Halo should be going, so players have more flexibility.

Again it was enormously successful in warzone

I don’t want anything from H5 coming anywhere near this game. Leave that trash in the past where it belongs.

I very much disliked H5 attachments. It moved guns into niches they weren’t meant to. It also was a fake increase to the weapon pool. It just wasn’t more fun to use an AR with slightly more range.

If they are going to do attachments they would need to go full COD and allow complete customization of every gun with multiple attachments and we got COD style loadouts in Halo 4. Halo 4 and 5 killed Halos popularity and I would really like it if they stay away from many of the systems in those games.

Final thought is that it might also take resources away from giving us actual unique weapons instead of slightly different variants.

ok but how about instead of attachments going into the whole halo 5 approach of customization your weapons to min max the hell out of it, how about hopups from apex?

while yes some hopups make weapons stronger, it doesn’t make it a min maxing hell scape like warzone. Apex has this thing where they rotate what hopups are in the pool so they can tweak the meta, if they also applied this through the weapons in halo by being able to choose what weapon changes SLIGHTLY it’d be a bit more interesting on what combos what players go with

I wholeheartedly agree that these variants should come back, at least as spawnables in Forge/Custom Games. Putting those on active map rotation would undoubtedly cause havoc for balancing, but it would be so cool to have them back.

Like I said, I think it could be an interesting specific game type modifier. Expanding upon it, it might work well with the way the weapon spawn pads function. Gameplay on standard 4v4 maps might be a bit quick for it to function, but in a special BTB setting it could bring some interesting variety.

However, with the way the sandbox currently functions it wouldn’t be a great asset in standard gameplay functionality as the sandbox is specifically tuned in a way that favors variety and player ingenuity. Weapons and equipment have very specific niches/ranges/functions.

While little modifiers could sway and tune the balance in subtle ways, new weapons fitting different roles filling the spaces between these established weapons and creating new roles would be an ideal solution in core game modes especially with the way the weapon randomization system works.

Again reiterating my support for the idea to be utilized in creative modes (forge/custom games) as well as special game modes, but as a general implementation into core gameplay that this game is built on it’s gonna be a no from me dawg.

That it’s all for the best?
Of course, it is.

I want to play Call of Halo: Battlefield Royale: Destiny of the Wild.
It’s already Super Spider Halo Souls 64.

… how about no? Let that stuff stay behind in Halo 5 since most of it was cosmetic stuff that just changed how your reticle’s frame looked like when you zoomed in.

Lol hey lets hope Elden Ring comes in with a bang to show all of these mediocre washed up devs how to make a single player game.

And how dare you bring Spider Solitaire into this!!!

We do have weapon variants in the Campaign, we could start by bringing those back in me thinks.

Breacher BR is basically the H2 BR, which features faster firing but reduced range. We could totally have this as a start weapon for certain BTB modes, like Heavies.

Sniper Variant, or what I’d like to call the “Fat Sniper” could be featured as a new gamemode weapon as well.

There’s also the Longshot AR which could definitely be a part of the sandbox if they nerf the current AR a little bit, so the Longshot would stand out more as an automatic with stronger range and more suppressive abilities than the basic AR.

The ball is in 343’s court to add variants to gameplay in a way which wouldn’t disrupt balance.

I would rather not… That stuff is to gimmicky. If they wanted to make it for just one certain playlist/game mode then ok. But I don’t want to see it in ranked or even social game play.

I really disagree. But the weapon attachments themselves were cool. It meant more options in forge and gave players a little more control over the sandbox. So long as these fancy extras aren’t player-owned but balanced into the mode itself I think it would be great.

The grapple is meant to be game-altering. 343i intended equipment pickups to have the same match snowball as a power weapon. And even besides that, its a pickup. OP is intending loadouts, something the game shouldn’t have no matter the mode.

Yeah, no. Let’s not. That system sucked. Attachments such as the Energy bayonets was extremely problematic. I really don’t want that back.

No, no, no, no no. Listen, 343 are trying to distance themselves from games like COD MW, Cold War, and Vanguard. We don’t want the game to get sued or something if we are supposedly copying the Gunsmith from their game.

No please not like anything from Apexo Legendos.

its a good idea to bring then back also if its for the same weapons then i have no problems with it to use it in the multiplayer

Not at all Joey, not at all. Attachments like the energy bayonet added a large skill-gap to the game because players needed to consider, ok am I the sort that likes to guard our bases, or tries to sneak into their’s? If so packing an energy bayonet was a good idea for those CQB engagements.

Giving players something similar for infinite’s BTB, especially capture the flag, would be beneficial.

If a player wants to have a long range playstyle, pick up a BR, Commando, Stalker, Shock Rifle, Sniper, or Skewer.

Those weapons exist for long ranged play.
