Let me get this straight...

You fight Covenant in Halo4? After the ending in Halo3 I was really hoping that Master Chief would find himself in a “New” location with “New” weapons and “New” enemies. Not really complaining but I was also hoping 343 would not play the safe card. Did anyone else think the same thing? Wow may be a missed opportunity.

What? You will fight this new enemy AND rogue covenant.

Covenant is just there, from a gameplay perspective, to ease old players back into it without throwing them in at the deep end with what everyone but like one person now assumes is the Forerunners.

The Covenant aren’t as much as a threat as they used to be. Think of them as space pirates or rebels. I imagine a lot of the game will place emphasis on fighting the new enemy.

I’m guessing you have seen the word Covenant or heard about the said information shown in GameInformer/ relayed over these forums.

If you would simply read a bit further or even look up the information yourself you will notice that the Covenant are back but “may not be the least of your worries”, in other words, yes they are in the game but they are not primary enemy or even compare to what is. It is also quite hard to miss the multiple statements regarding Halo 4 and the new ‘Ancient Enemy’ (not Covenant).

The Covenant will be in Halo 4, they will be an enemy that you will encounter but they will NOT be the only enemy or even main focus. In answer to your expectations:

  1. New Location: Shield World known as Requiem.
  2. New Weapons: Forerunner, UNSC, Covenant Equipment/ Weaponary
  3. New Enemies: Ancient Evil yet to be announced. (Possibly Precursor).

Those weren’t Covenant. Notice how the blue elite had an energy sword. Minors aren’t allowed to use energy swords in the Covenant, so what we saw was likely a pirate faction of grunts and elites.

You’re right.
However it seems like you have to describe that every time on these forums so for the sake of ‘making it easier’ most people will name them as ‘Covenant species’ until they are officially given a new name.

You know on that note; Im sure the Flood will somehow make it’s return as well.
