So now with infinite as a free to play multiplayer the population took a big hit, ok so why let the game slowly die when you can put all the HALO MCC multiplayer free to play and even charge the Battle Passes( seasons) for an extra buck for those who did not buy the retail version…you make money we get to boost the Halo MCC population high so we get a win win situation…and hell if someone likes it they will buy the campaign collection. P.S i only play infinite as a multi and don’t want to pay xbox live gold just for MCC so i can’t play it now though i want too…
No just no and stop asking. Pay to play that goes Free to Play ether ends up dieing or a game that no one wants. case and points the money system in infinite is way way over the line and you want to turn MCC in to Pay to win why.
Do you not have the time or skill to work at it. I understand buying colors but work for your stuff man please. Stop asking companys to make free to play games they just are ether money grabs or gambling boxes
No, no, and no. Absolutely not. Keep microtransactions away from the game. Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been the way it is for nearly a decade, and if it hasn’t changed then, it won’t change now.
Normally Pay to Play goes Free to play for one of two reasons, the Games population is decreasing due to age and lack of interest, or their is some serious bucks to be made. Look at CS:GO. While the game was preforming well and was making a metric s**t ton of money, the game was losing players and was not gaining where it needed to in order to sustain its popularity. So Valve made the game Free to Play with restrictions on Ranked play. Now In MCCs case, it exists purely to have a collection of the old games in a playable state with all the features. There is no need to make the game F2P as there is no need to bring in players, Halo Infinite is where 343 wants its player base, since its new and they will be adding things to it for the foreseeable future, it would be detrimental to make all other Halos F2P and split the player base.
So it can be over-run by cheaters…no thanks. F2P predatory nonsense is exactly why I went back from Infinite. Paid BP’s can die in a fire before it goes anywhere near MCC. Population maybe struggling but certainly does not need or warrant having some awful predatory system in my game.
If they were to ever make MCC F2P I don’t see them adding any MTX, and them just making things like Halo 3 and Reach MP F2P and you still need to buy the rest of the game, or making just Customs Free and everything else purchasable. That would be the model they go for. Pieces of the game for free, the rest you need to buy. I still dont see them ever making this game F2P even if it gets to the point of no players.
I don’t trust 343i enough to not do that. I already own the full game and I don’t want content taken away like what happened with Infinite just so a few irritating gamers can get a game for ‘free’. Going F2P may as well be a death sentence for MCC and I’m glad this awful F2P nonsense is not anywhere near MCC. If 343i choose to randomly give the game away for free for a short time fine but turning it into a F2P would be the worst case scenario for MCC.
Disagree, between gamepass, and the number of people that already have a steam copy (and the Steam version going on sale for $20 during sales). I don’t think there’s much to be gained in terms of population by going f2p.
They wouldnt take anything away from you? it would affect new players. It wouldnt be a death sentence for the game. Lol. Again the model for F2P in MCC would probably be as follows.
New players get Halo 3 MP and Reach MP for FREE.
If they want anything else they have to purchase it as follows
Halo CE MP and Campaign 10 USD
Halo 2 MP and Campaign 10 USD
Halo 3 Campaign and ODST Campaign/Firefight 10 USD
Halo Reach Campaign 5 USD
Halo 4 MP and Campaign 10 USD
Whole game for 40 USD.
Which is not much different to the current system.
Sorry but just no. F2P predatory systems need to stay as far away from MCC as possible. You’re not going to convince me otherwise.
I’m not disagreeing I’m just trying to express to you that if MCC went F2P it probably wouldn’t be predatory, it would just be the same sales model except 1 or 2 MPs being free to start.
I don’t believe going F2P would be good for MCC in any way and no going F2P just so they can block content like unlocks would not be same ‘sales’ model.
But that’s most likely not how they would monetize. Did you not read my breakdown on how a model would look like for a game like MCC. Since it can be sold in pieces(AS IT IS ALREADY), they’d make that the model except the F2P part would be like Halo 3 or Reach MP, it wouldn’t effect anyone who already owns the game.
It’s already sold in pieces on Steam. Going F2P would mean more cheaters and doubt 343i wouldn’t try to add predatory battle pass if they tried to go F2P.
What are you talking about the population took a big hit? The Steam population GREW thanks to the Steam sale last week. Although we don’t have data on Game Pass PC, Windows Store, or Xbox players, it doesn’t seem the population took a hit at all. I still find games in matchmaking within seconds. Custom Game Browser is still jam packed too.
I really do not think this will sit down well with players. Many of us are veterans who played for 15 or 20 years, old enough to remember when we could just play and have fun customizing our Spartans without worrying about all of these MTXs and what not, that comes with F2P. Going F2P would likely mean locking away stuff that you could have otherwise unlocked easily within the current MCC system. I also want to color my Spartan however I like. Can’t even do that in Infinite.
The CGB did have a drop in the number of servers as before it’d be like 100 on the weekend but now it’s 50-70 but I can still find servers so I guess that’s important. I will say though I am hoping that the population won’t drop this week because the campaign for infinite is coming out this Wednesday so I am worried that MCC population may drop a little.
