Don’t get me wrong I love halo as much as anyone on this site. I love halo a lot. that being said I do think that there have been some questionable business practices and gameplay changes regarding halo in the past few years. the main thing is Microsoft milking, for lack of a better term, the game. Halo 4, to me, felt like 343 loved halo and wanted to give it their own twist but it just turned out kind of… weird. the campaign and multiplayer was so futuristic and outlandish compared to the older games. don’t get me wrong it was cool and I did enjoy playing it but I think that Halo, campaign and maybe even multiplayer wise would have been better off if it ended with halo 3 or reach. now I’m not saying that they should have just stopped making games, do like anniversaries and spin-offs. but what Microsoft is doing right now just feels like they are trying to make halo that kind of mainstream shooter with its game play. should I say they are letting the industry influence the gameplay and story, instead of the industry being influenced by the halo gameplay and story. remember the term “halo killer” yeah, it was a real thing. I could write for hours about how I feel about the current halo series and how its being sold people but its 5:00 in the morning so I should probably go to bed now, tell me what you guys think

The thing is, you could let go of halo, but you can still keep the older games at someplace in your heart.

how can halo 1-3 not be futuristic and outlandish?
Sorry but to me it feels nothing like a mainstream shooter. Halo is still at it’s core it’s just been improved with some long-needed mechanics and some personal touchups by 343.
You are completely right. 343i have completely ruined this series. The way the game has been made definitely has the feel of a mainstream shooter due to the fact that 343i has made precision weapons useless compared to spray and pray weapons. Saying that Halo has turned into a wannabe CoD may be a lazy comparison, but people say it because there is simply no better way to put it.
