With the Banished (and by extension, the Brutes) taking a more major role in Halo’s story, will we see what Brutes do best? If you have never read the Halo books, the books depict Brutes as very violent and merciless creatures, killing and eating the Unggoy under their command and dismembering humans while the humans are still alive. In the books, they torture people in very brutal ways for the heck of it, and since 343 is diving more into the expanded lore, we might see this type of stuff in Infinite. Not like ODST where it’s just an easter egg line from a random Brute that’s pretty hungry, we might see the Banished actually doing stuff like this. You might think, “The Banished won’t eat humans, Atriox isn’t ok with it.” But there are so many Brutes in the Banished, Atriox can’t even keep track of them! Decimus did stuff like that, and he was Atriox’s right hand! We will see stuff like this in Infinite, and it will prove how terrifying this new enemy is.
If it gets an M rating, I hope we see Brutes engage in their lovely acts of savagery and barbarism!
I hope that we do.
I doubt that we will.
But I hope. Bring back M!
I would love to see a more brutal version of the Brutes in Infinite!
It’s sad the Brutes never really got to stand out. In Halo 2, they’d go berserk but that’s really about it. Then in 3 and ODST they became discount Elites. So I’d welcome more savagery just to spice up this enemy.
Allow the Brutes to live up to their name and their wonderful lore from the books!
Entirely agree here. It’s another reason for why I don’t want playable Brutes- they’d need proper differentiation in terms of gameplay
INCOMING MESSAGE FROM ATRIOX:
My brothers, the Unggoy are disobeying our might. Remember our policy on Grunts. Yeet them or eat them. Fight well, pack.
Jokes aside, it looks like the Banished are standing out in this way. We saw a brute chuck a poor, innocent grunty at the player in the gameplay demo. We might see Brutes ripping apart Spartans like it’s nothing. That would be cool, and we do know that the Banished will whoop the new, wimpy excuse of the UNSC’s behind. I am vouching for the Banished to whoop the UNSC’s -Yoink- in this way, by thinning the herd in the most brutal way possible (since the UNSC has gotten waaaay too big for its own britches).
Yes please I want Craig to unleash his inner Brute
Please!!! This game needs all sorts of switch ups and some savagery would be really, REALLY interesting in HALO!
I would love to see this. I hope they change how brutes are just elites wearing a costume and bring in their own personality
I agree, I was hoping Infinite would be rated “m” anyways.

I agree. I’ve stated this before too. The Brutes are savage and the games never really did them justice imo. This gets my vote every time.
Agreed. Im ready for a heavy and dark elements to be back in halo, not as the dominant theme obviously but as a fantastic compliment to the rest.I think the flood and brutes both have a lot of potential to tap into those aspects of the lore and I really hope 343 capitalizes off them.
Damn I didn’t know they were like that, that’s awesome. I hope they bring that aspect of them to the game as well but I have a feeling they won’t. Maybe there will be audio logs or something of that nature that’ll display that kind of thing but I doubt we’ll actually see it in game.
yeah the lower ranking brutes probably show less respect towards atriox
and the higher ranking probably does less dismemberment though

Decimus disagrees with you, he murdered his own men and threatened to pull out your troops’ skulls…glad he’s dead.

well excluding decimus
And the lore states that a lot of Brutes don’t respect Atriox. There are many Brutes in the Banished too prideful to give a crap about him, and in many cases those Brutes get killed by Chosen or some Warlord. But some still survive. Maybe Escharum will be like this? Too prideful to follow Atriox’s way?

I feel like most of what we’d want to see brutes doing could still fit in a T rating. I think the bar that makes a game M rated has been raised in the years since but I could be wrong. Still hoping for brutes to rip and tear a bit
