Less Medals.

I’m going to make this short, sweet, and too the point. Halo 4, and Halo: Reach for that matter, had way too many medals in my opinion. I felt like everything I did got rewarded with a medal. Theres now a medal just for getting a kill, thats too much to me as a medal is suppose to be rewarding you for accomplishing something. Getting kills is the point of the multiplayer generally.

Thats my opinion on this, does any understand where I’m coming from or do I stand alone on this?

Yes.
It’s worse in h4 than in reach though.
Everytime i get the Comeback medal I’m like wtf.

On one hand, I can see your point, but to be honest, it doesnt bother me, I don’t even notice kill medals, if you ask me I say they should stay, good players will eventually just ignore the mundane/easy medals, but they make the less skilled/fortunate players feel a little more like they contributed, and at the end of the day, if i was a game developer, i’d want my players to feel like they were useful, keeps there spirits up, keeps em playing.

Agreed.
About 75% of the medals are unnecessary, and because of them, the rest are devalued.

Monitor making a Topic? What is this madness!?!?1?one? Unheard of.

bot srsly m8 I totally agree, in fact I kinda think of it like this: Medals in Halo 3 were like your Guns in Borderlands after a sweet loot run. All good, some wicked awesome.

Medals in Halo 4 are like the things in your inventory after grinding for an hour in an area 2 levels below you…Lot of garbage to sort through to find something good.

Side Note: What the hell is with giving Medals for kills with each Power Weapon and taking out their sprees? SMH

I also agree. Personally the level of medals in Reach didn’t bother me as much although I would rather see them gone.

I think you should only be rewarded with a medal for going above and beyond. Not because you happened to run into the guy that just killed you or a teammate or because you had a rail gun in your hand.

My ideal medals would be similar but less than Halo Reach and only show the important ones in the game. (Headshots, double kills, sprees) and leave the rest for the end carnage report.

Gotta agree, way too many medals; they feel less valuable than in previous games.

Sniff… I like the encouragement… :’(

No, I agree. One medal especially needs to go:
Comeback Kill.
IMO, the ones that have the voice saying them are the really special ones, and the ones that should stay. But ‘Comeback Kill’? Really? And he even voices it!

Every time I hear it, it’s like hearing ‘Congratulations, you suck!’

Nah, most mods aren’t only that all-powerful ruler who only lock down old and necro threads. Austin’s a great guy, too, I’ve talked with him, and in reality, mods are just nice, all arou----

Yeah halo 3 had it perfect, medal for double, triple etc kills, kill streak medals and beat down medal along with sniper
simple things, again the same old thing of just cos they can make loads of medals they feel they have to…

Well, I wouldn’t exactly say have less medals. Just have medals that are a challenge to receive. I agree that the kill medal and medals like that one are just unnecessary. However, it’s not really hard to think of new medals that would be challenging to receive.

I think its also a little excessive.

But keep Road Trip. That medal was awesome. xD

A medal I liked from Halo 4 was flying high. Wouldn’t mind that one coming back for social playlists.

D’awww. Just like you guys, mods are fans of Halo and we make threads and reply just like everyone else.

OT: I want to feel like when I receive a medal its because I really accomplished something. There are some goofy medals I’m super okay with staying. Best example is road trip. That was really funny and Im okay with it staying. Jeff Steitzer, the multiplayer announcer even had a really good idea for a medal.

Either make me feel like I earned the medal, or make me laugh. Halo has always been both a serious but funny game. I’m all for a little humor :stuck_out_tongue:

I want Cheney Mania!

TOOOO many medals. You got medals for everything you did. You could get a kill and see 4-5 medals come up on the screen. Absolutely ridiculous. Also 343i took out good medals like sniper head shots and the perfection medal. They added the distraction medal, but dropped the perfection medal. -_- sigh…

Seriously medals mean nothing in this game because you can accumulate 150 of them in one game. Take it back to a time when a medal might have actually meant something. I would like to see the spree medals return too. Like sniper spree, assist spree/sidekick or even hammer spree. Sniper frenzy back in H3 was so hard to get. You had to kill 10 consecutive people with the sniper, no other weapons.

Bring it back 343i, please and thank you.

The problem is that medals are tied to Commendations. In order to cut down the number of medals, Halo needs to either get rid of Commendations or find an alternative way to let the player know in-game that his Commendations are incrementing.

Bring back the Yoink! Medal. Do what you will with the others.

Commendations are annoying. I wish they’d GTF0.

A lot of them really should go like the kill medal, stupidest medal in all of videogame history. Some of the medals where actually good like killing spree or double kill, triple kill, and all that stuff. Comeback kill needs to go nobody cares about it.

I’m inclined to think that the current medal list could be trimmed of a few options.

Though I want to keep the ones for headshot kills and even comeback kills.

Why you might ask? To reward the player. You want the player to go for headshots. You reinforce that behavior as good by giving them extra reward for doing it. You want the frustrated player to keep playing so you give him something when he’s down to keep his spirits up.
