Less Fightscenes Please

So I was playing through Halo 1-5 and what I noticed when I got to 343’s games is that there are a lot more cinematic fightscenes. Can this not continue please? I was hugely dissapointed that the physical conflict between Chief and Locke was so lackluster and short lived, and worst of all, during a cutscene. There are other examples such as the very first cutscene we see of Osiris. It would have been so awesome to play that scene with Osiris running down the edge of that cliff fighting through covvies and prometheans. But no. We must just sit back and watch.

Did anyone else get bothered or also notice this? I get that sometimes fights can seem more epic and portrayed in a more accurate way during cutscenes, but everytime I saw one it just made me think ‘‘Man, I wish this was gameplay.’’

What cinematic moments did Bungie’s Halos allow to play directly? Not asking out of spite, but genuine curiosity.

If it was gameplay, you wouldn’t be able to do 90% of that.

People love watching cutscenes. They don’t take away from the gameplay.

Cutscenes allow developers to choose exactly how something plays out and how you view it cinematically. It’s their painting and ensures that you observe it exactly how they want it to be viewed. You have the rest of the game for epic moments and gameplay.

What’s the point of cut scenes then? They’re not only used to progress the story further then allowed using radios during gameplay, they’re used for action sequences impossible to make in the game. Besides half of them would be quick time events like the “boss” fight we had with the Didact in Halo 4 if we made them elements of the game.

Should we make Return to Sender apart of the gameplay? What about the opening of the Ark? Or Arby vs Johnson and Miranda? Do we make the Zealot ambush from the first mission in Reach apart of the gameplay? Take away from the the shock at the Zealots charging Noble Team, jumping you, and kidnapping the marine and girl before regrouping to track them down and kill them?

Some stuff is better left to the cut scenes rather than the gameplay.

How cool would it have been to fly through space and drop that bomb on the covenant? Probably better served as a cutscene because you wouldn’t have been able to do it, plus it was more badass as a cutscene (especially in the anniversary edition). H5 actually needed more cutscenes, instead of the 3 walking “missions”…
