Lengthy animations and respawn

When I’m a pinch it’s kind of annoying to have a super long mandatory animation to put on an overshield. I understand the immersion aspect but when I’m playing ranked to win it’s a pain.

I think a power item like this should be a “Oh -Yoink!-” moment for a player attacking you when your next to it not a “well I’ve got 5 minutes to shoot at him be fore he even gets it on” kinda thing and then if I’m killed a millisecond before I get the thing on it respawns for the person who killed me?

If I got it first and “activated” it, it should go with me. That’s the least that could be done to compensate for the long mandatory animation.

Also 10 seconds to respawn in a match is pretty long. Especially in time sensitive game modes. 5-7 seconds would be better. Thanks for listening and overall this a great game. And happy holidays

highly disagree. the fact that you can pick it up and use it anytime is extremely valuable and creates a dynamic where its not, oh im here first so its mine… rather you are forced to earn it and duel it out then apply it.

spawn times are arguably too short on some maps. i would argue to increase them to 12 seconds.

In the FGC, we call that a start up animation.
Knowing your frame data is key to winning in any given fighting game match.

It’s not too dissimilar in other games. You have a recovery period between two given melee actions.

You have start up frames on your overshield/active camo.

You need these so the opponent has a window to react to/predict what’s happening and act accordingly.

I have no issue with the Overshield animation.

Rocket launcher, is another thing entirely. Why you have to pick it up, fiddle with it, spin it a couple hundred times before shooting is beyond me. No other Halo game acted like that, and as a power weapon, you need to have it hot and ready like Little Caesar’s off pickup. If not, you’re likely dead.

Agreed. My personal preference would be instant respawn in slayer gametypes and 5-7 second respawn for objective gametypes.

During my first year of college, the closest Little Caesar’s was across the parking lot from my apartments. They gave students a discount on crazy bread so we could get a bag for a dollar. On Tuesdays, I believe, we could get two for a dollar.

Those were glorious times.

The bad thing about the good ol’ days, is you didn’t realize they were the good old days, while you were living them. Great story!
