LEgit question, because ive been out of the game.

Legit question, because I’ve been off the grid for sometime.

What exactly is TU Reach? I know it stands for “title update” but I want to know how exactly this will change Reach. Could someone please list the set of changes 343 intends to make? Thank you very much.

~Tim.

TU= Title Update

The TU introduces several changes to Reach such as:

The removal of Sword Block (you can’t block the sword anymore)

Armor Lock nerf (you can now force players out of Armor Lock with weapons and grenades. Each hit drains the meter faster until they pop out. They also cant survive being stuck by plasma grenades anymore).

Camo nerf (it doesn’t last as long).

Bleedthrough Melee (It reworking of the shield system. If your shields are weak, the damage carries over to your health. Melees can now kill you even if you have a little bit left in the bar).

Bleedthrough Headshots: Similar to the Melee but it’s headshots instead.

85 Bloom: Faster resetting reticule to allow pacing to be rewarded more than spamming. 85 bloom and the rest of the TU changes are under labeled “TU Slayer” when it appears as a voting option in select playlists.

ZB: Zero Bloom. As the name suggests, there is no reticule bloom and is usually labeled “ZB Slayer”. It’s similar to how the old Halos played. Sort of.

Right now, the playlists with the Standard TU Slayer changes are as follows: Squad Slayer, Mult-Team, BTB, Double Team, The Arena, Anniversary FFA, Squad, and BTB. Soon Rumble Pit will have the TU though Team Slayer is going to be voting for to use vanilla (old settings) or TU Slayer settings.

There are currently two playlists that use ZB settings. The beta playlist (which ZB will be moved from to it’s own playlist) and MLG which uses the ZB NS settings (or in other words, Zero Bloom, No Sprint).

ZB and 85 bloom do not affect automatic weapons, just the DMR, Needle Rifle, and the Magnum. Everything else in the weapons sandbox is the same. However, bleedthrough applies to all weapons and melees.

Thanks I appreciate that.

Likes

  • Removal of Sword block.
  • Active Camo Nerf

Dislikes

  • AL Nerf
  • Bleedthrough sounds a little, foreboding.

Likes Reasoning

  • The sword SHOULD be able to be parried, but only by another sword. I mean SPARTAN’s are tough, but not take a sword to the elbow tough.

  • People camp with this… and I HATE campers.

Dislikes Reasoning

  • Although I am a bit peeved with the AL nerf-ation. It’s still will end the game quicker. More over, it will make the player rely more on quick thinking then a complete invincibility moments reprieve. A true Halo player basis his skill on killing more then he dies. With the old AL it kind of lets you take short cut to high K/D spread.

  • I don’t like this idea very much. I honestly believe the shield system is good as it is. However if it changes to the Halo 3 version where the AR takes off enough shield that you can “pummel” your opponent even with the shield power still active, then I’m a-ok with this.

Welcome back =) and you will have the chance to play both versions in TS for the next two weeks, after that 343 will be adding up the votes for each playtype and implementing the TU in TS if it is the overall winner. Or something like that, we shall see.
