Can you help? My stats at the end of a warzone game this evening gave me credit for 1 legendary kill. The only legendary boss I’d tackled all game being warden eternal, but I didn’t receive any progress in my warden commendation.
Is there a bug with attributing boss kills correctly? I’ve seen several threads where people are complaining that they receive credit with a medal but the response is usually along the lines of ‘the medal is for a team kill’. But i’ve recently experienced 1: a solo boss kill, a knight in firefight fight, where I got a medal and a ‘you killed knight x’ and still didn’t get a commendation progress 2: a mythic warden assassination where I got a medal and credit in the kill feed but again no commendation progress.
I’m willing to accept that a medal on its own may be credit for an assist only, but if the game gives credit in the kill feed, or, in my case this evening, credit in the end game stats, you #should# get commendation progress as well.
Has anyone else experienced any thing similar? How do I get this looked at?
Here’s the unfortunate truth for the commendation:
Even when the kill feed shows “You killed Warden Eternal” or “Legendary Takedown” credit in game or post-game, you only get credit for killing Warden if you land the killing blow. You can be sure you got the progress if you get a red “X” in your reticle upon his death. That’s the only way to be sure that you killed Warden.
But shouldn’t the kill feed match that logic? If you didn’t kill the warden, someone else did, why does the kill feed state specifically #you# killed warden x?

The killfeed says that whenever you meet the original qualifications for earning the medal. Basically, it means you were instrumental in killing the boss.
Sorry to labour the point, but if I was instrumental in killing the boss but didn’t do so, then it shouldn’t say I killed the boss in the kill feed because I didn’t kill the boss!
There 's nothing more frustrating in this game than the glimmer of hope (!) that you might make some progress towards the grindiest of commendations only to find that not so because of some weird nuance in how kills are attributed.
I’m pretty sure all bosses are like that but the only one with an actual kill commendation is Warden the other bosses for the commendation you just need an assist.
Nope not in my experience. In the recent firefight beta, I fought and killed a knight solo. Got the ‘you killed knight x’, got the medal, got a 1 for the only knight I guaranteed landed the final kill (because I was solo) in the post-game stats, but.again, no commendation progress.
There so many threads about this where there isn’t a definitive explanation for what’s happening, nor an acknowledgement that the kill feed is confused.
Something should be done to either the kill feed notification or the attribution of the kill. Either they change the kill feed to ‘you were instrumental in killing boss x for your team’ or they change the kill allocation to whomsoever gets the ‘you killed boss x’ in their kill feed.
My warden kill counter has been at 9/10 for 3 days now and it’s complete bull. I’ve taken down at least 5 wardens(verified by legendary kill medals and killfeed) and my commendation counter won’t budge. This is obviously a glitch in the system, not some “percentage of damage done to warden” or “final killing blow” scenario.
My frustration is that the kill feed and the commendation isn’t in sync. As I see it, if you didn’t kill the boss then it shouldn’t appear in your kill feed and it shouldn’t give you a medal. And it’s too easy to say ‘you didn’t get the last shot so no commendation for you’ as if that resolves the issue.
Either the kill feed is wrong or the commendation is. But either way something is broken.
Completely haha, I was throwing reqs at him left and right to get that commendation! Now that I have it I’ll be more measured; probably only throw reqs if it will change the tide of the game or guarantee victory.
