Legendary Slayer = Pointless

It’s just Throwdown with an AR and no Ordinance. Why would I want to limit myself to just an AR? Even Halo 3 and Reach AR starts gave us a Magnum.

We waited this long for them to do something possible at launch. It’s not even doing anything special with the TU features they have at their disposal. They didn’t even try to make the AR a better weapon for ranged engagements despite forcing players to use it and nothing but it.

I don’t understand why there isn’t a Magnum as secondary either. You’ve always had a secondary weapon to fall back to with AR starts, and most of the time it’s been a pistol that allows players to have a chance against someone mid range with a BR or other precision weapon.

I’m also upset that they didn’t remove sprint from this gametype. Going back to the older games really makes you think more because you can’t just turn and run.

Hopefully, we get some clarification as to why they decided on these settings, because they seem so odd.

I’m very much looking forward to it. It’s not Throwdown with AR starts at all. There’s zero ordinance and motion tracker. It’s basically Team Slayer with sprint. A magnum for a secondary would be nice but we’ll see how it plays. Hopefully they add a rifle start variant at some point.

Primary: Battle Rifle
Secondary: Assault Rifle
Perk1: Resupply
Perk2: Explosives

No sprint.
120% speed.
Faster recharge delay.
Arena maps and classic remakes.

That’s all they had to do.

> Hopefully, we get some clarification as to why they decided on these settings, because they seem so odd.

This is exactly like if they took the original Slayer Pro playlist, and removed the DMR and BR loadouts, and added radar, and that’s it.

I just don’t understand what they were thinking.

It wouldn’t make sense to remove sprint on a gametype where you are spawning only with a close-range niche weapon. I’ll give them that one.

I wouldn’t be so irrationally angered if we at least had a Magnum to defend ourselves at range against Rifle pickups. Especially on wide-open maps like Lockout, good luck doing anything when the enemy nabs all the BRs and DMRs.

Honestly, if we’re going to spawn players with a close-range niche weapon secondary, I think it would be best to have it compliment the DMR due to its range. With a spready BR, you’re practically giving players 2 close-range weapons.

So excited for this playlist. It is exactly Halo 2/3 team slayer settings. This is what this game has needed since 11/6/12. That being said, AR-only starts make zero sense. They will change it to BR starts very soon I think, they’ll have to. AR starts just does not make any sense. SAVE US BRAVO

I don’t even disagree, but, you know…

WASN’T DMR DESTROYED ON REACH?
DMR ISN’T CLASSIC.
DMR BREAKS MAPS.
BETTLE RIFUL TRUE HAYLO.

So on, so forth.

You know that competitive Magnum thread someone made over at THC? That’s what they should do in my opinion. AR + Dat Magnum.

So, LS will only give you an AR to start with, and sprint will still be enabled…
Of all the things 343 has done post-launch, s it really that hard to disable sprint?

Considering it’s disabled in Lightning Flag, probably not.

So why it’s not done is beyond me.

If you want BR starts, try just about any other playlist.

I think it’s great.

Who said anything about the BR? If you actually took the time to read the thread before posting, you would have noticed that I never specifically mentioned the BR.

Yeah, this post really isn’t about BRs at all. Reading threads before posting in them is generally the pro-strat.

The OTHER thread, however, is definitely about BR starts.

I didn’t take you for a DMR fan but okay… Also not sure why starting with an AR “limits” you to the AR…

I contributed by saying I liked it BTW.

I wasn’t a fan of AR starts in H3 or Reach and the fact that we don’t even get a pistol makes it worse so I’m not all that excited. I will give it a go, but I don’t see myself playing it regularly.

Also since its only launching with 8 maps supported and 3 of them are the Majestic map pack is that required to play? I hope it is.

He never stated he liked the DMR either

Second question is why there aren’t more remakes or forge maps in the playlist.

Or what exactly they changed with the current maps, as they said they made tweaks specifically for Legendary Slayer.

Of course if they plan on expanding on the playlist after its been released thats fine as well.

Because nobody in here has said anything about BR starts at all…

> I didn’t take you for a DMR fan but okay…

I’m not a “DMR Fan,” I’m a consistency fan. I like weapons that function the same way every time. I don’t like randomness or forced inaccuracy.

> Also not sure why starting with an AR “limits” you to the AR…

You’re forced to use the AR until you find another weapon. There are only a finite amount of weapons on the map, and certainly not enough to go around. You are forced to pick engagements at only a close range, as you’re outmatched in every other situation. The weapon limits you.

> Also not sure why starting with an AR “limits” you to the AR…

Because it’s generally looked down upon when I betray and T-Bag my teammates for their precision weapon.

I don’t actually do that.

> So this gametype will force you to lean heavily on those classic Halo fundamentals of map and weapon control? Sounds pretty legendary to me.

You don’t need to spawn with an AR for map control to exist though.
