I heard 343 explicitly say in an interview that they would not show Chief’s face. And then I see the legendary ending and what a surprise! They show his eyes, literally the most important part of a person’s face. I hate you for lying to me. I don’t want to see his face and if you show it again I will lose all faith in your studio. YOU DON’T SHOW CHIEF’S FACE! Rule #1 of Halo.
I kind of agree.
Personality makes the person, what they look like, does not. I know they wanted to flesh out Chief, and they did a good job with it, but revealing one of gaming’s most iconic faceless characters? Come on.
I was disappointed that they did not show his whole face. Stop hiding it, we know we’re not Chief, he’s a character.
You see his forhead down to the top of his nose, that’s not 100% of his face. Also, his eyes are blacked out and it only shows for a second. You have to pause it in a youtube video if you actually want to see his eyes.
I want 343 to reveal his whole face because the the idea of “Master Chief is the player” is no longer relevant seeing the Chief becoming so human.
It was cool while it lasted, but its time to finally introduce John to the world.
Legendary Ending was good to me. Didn’t show too much and didn’t show too little.
Would do again.

Some would disagree to that literal extent.

I literally saw what you did thar. Literally
I think this is more proof of the large amount of little kids running rampant in the forums causing mayhem.
I actually thought the epilogue was the best part of the game.
Too bad i had to play through the rest of the game to see it.

I try to keep my posts professional and or full of composure. I would hate to be rampant, I guess Cortana would hate that too.
I think only showing what they did was appropriate. The eyes can be very expressive. You can tell he seen some -Yoink!-.

who cares? dear lord all of you are going crazy just because they showed PART of his face. its his EYES and they look as serious as described so not really a surprise but awesome to see. atleast they didnt show his whole face.
You barely saw anything. Nothing recognizable. You saw the areas AROUND the eyes, but just barely. That could literally be anyone else. There’s no distinct features, save for a tiny glare on the eyes.
This is a face: http://halofanforlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Commander-Thomas-Lasky.png
This is the bare minimum of what you could call a face: http://i.imgur.com/4pge5.jpg?1
Besides, we already know what Master Chief’s face looks like from how it’s described in the books. It’s no big mystery, this is just the first time we sort of get to SEE it.
No one cared when this was in the Halo 3 Beta: http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Daily/2010/04-Apr/5/Easter%20Eggs/ChiefFace--article_image.jpg
You are the same guy going around saying rule #1 was the 117 never looses, right?
Cause i think you two need to get together and compile all these rules that a Halo game must have.
How can you not call that a face, it shows obvious details of his brow, all around his sockets and his eyes are only just shaded, he definitely has brown eyes.
343 did say this was Chief’s story and they are fleshing his character out more, you’d probably expect this kind of revelation to happen.
I’m sorry but… to me he looks like Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter. The sunken old eyes, but looking at the brow and nose makes you see it differently.
I see why ONI want to consider replacing Chief, he is an old Spartan.
Too soon to show chiefs face. Hope they never show it
I thought I saw his eyes on my TV… Gonna need to replay it at some point…
And besides, we’ve had plenty of descriptions of his face in the books. If you haven’t read them, I think you should read them. What’s the point of not showing his face if book readers already have an idea of what he looks like from Book Descriptions?
Wow, honestly? This forum is full of people complaining about nearly everything. And now, even the ending? Okay it’s just my opinion but the whole story had a really cinematic feel to it, unlike the previous games or at least far more than those ones. And I just don’t get why seemingly nobody here wants to see Chief’s face. I mean the books described him pretty good, we even saw him in Halo 4’s first cutscene as a child so why not show him as an adult?
