Bought a halo reach legendary edition about a month a from bestbuy game worked fine but the legendary content code didn’t work iv tried returning it to the store and calling xbox they both said try the halo fourms im really need this code to work there really rare now adays and that was the last legendary edition
The code is [REDACTED]
Have you made sure you’ve entered the code correctly and double checked it?
Sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately the codes do have a shelf life it may have been invalid all along but I would say it probably just expired. If its any consolation to you I never use my legendary flames or my eternal flames and rarely use the elite officer armor so as far as Im concerned apart from the bungie game narration your not missing much.
You’re typing in the code incorrectly. I just tried it on Xbox.com and it’s not a valid code. Check it again but don’t post it here.
i called ms and they looked into the code history it was used sometime in 2011 a year before i bought it
> i called ms and they looked into the code history it was used sometime in 2011 a year before i bought it
Then you are out of luck then
they told me to post here tho
> they told me to post here tho
And what do you expect us to do? I understand your frustration but if the code has been previously used then the Legendary Edition you purchased was Pre-Owned and since it’s Pre-owned there’s nothing that can be done.
343 aren’t going to give you another code for it, sorry, but those are the facts.
If you think it’s such a huge issue then you can just go buy a code on ebay. Be prepared for a $50 charge though.
it was new i bought it at best buy brand new i kinda want the code i bought to work
> it was new i bought it at best buy brand new i kinda want the code i bought to work
Most bonuses like the Legendary are limited time codes which expire after a long time, the Halo 3: ODST Pre-order bonus for Sgt. Johnson had an expiration date on it.
If it has expired, it will say the code is invalid/doesn’t exist, the exact same message it gives you enter a code that doesn’t exist or isn’t valid.
You’re out of luck either way.
If you contacted Microsoft and they told you the code had been used in 2011 then either you are being dishonest or the store that sold it to you was being dishonest.
I highly doubt that Microsoft told you when the code had been used, but that’s just me.
And as two people have already pointed out, not all codes last forever. You have a limited time to type the code in.
You’ve already stated in a previous post that you’ve had it for a month so your chances of returning it are pretty slim.
The harsh truth that you will have to accept is that:
Either you bought a used Legendary Edition or the code expired.
343 will not give you a new code.
If you want my personal opinion, I think someone sold you a used Edition.
Edit: Please keep this thread open Elizabeth Shaw, I’ll be back in a second.

Are you Absolutely certain you typed the code in correctly? All it takes is One single Character to be wrong.
About the life span of codes…Some of them do some of them don’t. Codes themselves do Not have a lifespan, but the server accepting the code may have time limit on it.
Its BestBuy not wanting to do their job…Contact 1-888-bestbuy, get the gaming department (i dont remember the ext) they specialize in code redemption (Hope this helps) but posting here wont get progress.
I checked my Legendary code right now and it does not have an expiration date. I know some do have an expiration date like Sgt. Johnson for ODST. I could only think of these things:
- Like what everyone says, did you type the code in correctly?
- Did you have to peel off the cover in order to see the code? If not, it’s pre-owned.
- You bought it at Bestbuy, so you’re in the states. Is your 360 purchased in the states? Halo: Reach is an international copy so it works on all consoles however, the code is only valid for the US.
I’d return it to the store, if it was supposed to be new but it isn’t then you should get your money back.
> I’d return it to the store, if it was supposed to be new but it isn’t then you should get your money back.
That’s what I would do, if it was new it should be complete, and as MS said it was used a year before the Op got it there should be no argument from the store.
