There’s two bosses in particular that I really don’t get.The elite general on Stormbreak, and the Soldier Armsman on Darkstar.
The problem? Both are worth 100 points, but can be spawnkilled. The latter of which can be spawnkilled with a melee attack even. With the general the team that controlls the fortress will almost always get it due to where he spawns. You just spawn a ghost or Scout Warthog, park it behind a crate, then ram him as he’s jumping off the dropship. Easy 100 points. The armsman? Just wait for the announcement, stand in a specific spot, and melee him with any weapon as he spawns. Even easier 100 points.
So what’s “legendary” or even bosslike about something worth 100 points that can be spawnkilled so easily? Other maps have Grunt Goblins and Knight Commanders for their legendary bosses, but these? Why these? If they can be killed so easily, why the Legendary status?
I really hope that these two bosses either be toughened or replaced with something else, since it’s just frustrating. Jul is in a spot where he can’t just be spawnkilled, though he can be headshot easily if you can bring his shields down real quick, but these two are just pathetic.

For stormbreak spawn a ghost and snag the kill. You can usually get it even if the enemy team has the fortress and the other armory. You may suicide in the process, but the points are worth the respawn timer.

I’ve done it a few times as well, and taken the armsman down “legitimately” with a Battle Rifle after killing the two guys camping the spawn and have stolen the general with a Temple Ghost, but it doesn’t really change how I feel about a ‘legendary’ boss being able to be downed so easily. There’s no “fight” for it, just a whoever gets there first thing.

Well one could argue that the fight would be in making sure that the enemy can’t tag it easily, just like the fight in the warden is in making sure the enemy doesn’t get the last shot. I’m waiting for the 2nd part of the reveal today, because it mentioned changes to warzone…

Might be hard, but at least the goblin and mantis bosses put up a fight for those 100 points. Unlike these two so-called bosses. Things that go down that quick should not be worth 100 points.

There are numerous approaches that could be used to fix these issues, but all of them vary in complexity.
The vehicle issue could be fixed by making that particular unit immune or highly resistant to “splatter damage” or whatever they refer to it on a variable level. The problem with that solution however, would be that it interferes with Halo’s established sandbox (something like “splatter damage” needs to be consistent for it to make sense in the game).
Another possible fix would be to give the unit an ability similar in function and form to that of armour lock. The problem with this solution is that unless you repurpose an existing animation, it will take a fair bit of work to add a completely new behaviour, as each behaviour has to interact with each and every other behaviour in a dynamic environment.
The problem of the unit that can be killed by assassinations, could easily be fixed by applying a spawn modifier that makes that particular unit immune to either assassinations or all damage completely for at least a second after spawning. The spawn traits framework already exists in almost every Halo game, so it should be relatively simple to implement.
The real question is why nobody at 343 has bothered to fix them yet. Perhaps it’s their belief that if you prepare to eliminate each of these bosses the easy way, and it’s something that either team can do, then it’s technically a legitimate strategy.

I’m not fully convinced about spawnkilling them being a legit strategy, or at least not an intended one. Originally you could assassinate shielded bosses and that was patched out later since it apparently wasn’t the way they wanted people tackling them. Which isn’t much different from how the armsman is taken out - a 100 point boss you kill just by punching it before it or its guards can get a single shot off.
The general is at least slightly better since you do need to get the vehicle there AND not get killed in the process AND not kill yourself without killing the boss. I’ve seen people take Ghost Swords/Ultras to the boss and then fail to take him out, suiciding without ramming him or even somehow getting blown up by the phantom first. The armsman though is more like a 25 point boss.

Ah, I wasn’t aware of the patched assassinations (I don’t enjoy Warzone personally). Going off of that, it has to be either a lack of free time to fix it, or a lack of knowledge that it exists.
As for the general, at least there are risks involved, it seems like they can get away with leaving that as is.
I don’t believe grunt mech is too hard, on apex 7, if you snipe his shields enough with a binary rifle, you can instant kill him, and on escape from ark, (This is one I do quite a lot) you can stand on the edge of the cliff shoot him a couple times and have him jump after you… he’ll fall off the cliff and you’ll get the takedown.
