Since Halo the Master Chief Collection is a total fan service and it’s a cinch to check out the Legendary endings online I would suggest that they don’t require a legendary difficulty completion anymore. Achievements are the banner of skill and story content shouldn’t be withheld just because someone wants to take a leisurely stroll instead of running a marathon or triathlon.
That’s kind of pointless.
The CE legendary ending is non canon anyway, so that would completely screw the story up, as Johnson appears in Halo 2.
Halo 2 didn’t have a legendary ending.
Halo 3 had one, but what it contained is easily seen in Halo 4’s opening.
Halo 4’s legendary ending just changed one second of the whole ending.
Making legendary the only ending is pointless.

actually it it pointless either way because they aren’t real special anymore, and the funny thing is Johnson dies a lot in CE and H2 if I remember correctly and still keeps coming back until 343 guilty spark finishes him permanently.
Just make it like Halo 4’s ending. Already beat it on Legendary? Then you always get the Legendary ending.

Not in Halo 2 … I did manage to complete a campaign run-through in CE where I kept him alive the whole time (a lot of checkpoint re-loading), and there are two places in particular where he sometimes spawns and he will die regardless, so it was just chance that he wasn’t there.
There’s one point on the autumn where he’s one of the marines standing by an escape pod door that explodes. It’s the “Whoa, did something just hit us?” part followed by the door blowing open.
The other is if he’s with you on the Truth & Reconciliation; once you reach the bridge he’ll stay behind with any other marines that made it that far. Upon returning with Keyes, the room has a couple of invisible sword wielding Elites and the platform contains the corpses of the marines who stayed behind, he’ll be there too.
But again, if you’re lucky enough, he won’t be in those two particular spots and it’s possible to keep him alive.
… I’ve played that game WAY too much. Still do.

So because of that we need to only have legendary endings for everything? That sounds stupid and the answer to that is fairly easy to come by. Johnson does not die in Halo 2 unless killed by the player directly which would obviously be non-canon.
Johnson dying in Halo CE is down to multiple reasons, the ending where he is shown hugging the elite is non-canon. His multiple deaths were little more than NPC copies because Bungie didn’t have a lot of unique marine models and he was never infected by the flood because he has a blood disease that nullifies the effects…that and he’s badass.
But yeah, the majority of his deaths in Halo CE were down to NPC copies and Bungie not realizing how popular Halo would become and thus not having the proper opportunity to build his character properly until the sequels.

Funny I’ve never really seen it that way at all. Achievements to me are just the useless counters that tally up how far you’ve fallen for the casual trap that they are.
Not really insulting anyone but just my own viewpoint on them.
Personally I know they do have in fact many challenging achievements out there but it’s mainly for games that actually have challenging gameplay in the core mechanics.
Most achievements are just for time wasting grinds or simple go here and do these tasks. A lot like modern games can be in themselves haha. (especially F2P’s…)
Back on topic they should just leave things as they are. It’s not like playing on legendary is all that hard anyways.

Plus some achievements are just pure dumb luck if you trigger the action that unlocks them or not, and others are just killing 10,343 grunts in a row sort of requirements. Not all achievements were meant to be ‘skillful’
Halo 2 legendary was hard for most. Halo 4 was not as hard.
No. Just make it like Halo 4, once unlocked always unlocked.
