Legacy weapon coatings

So we have a system for coatings in Halo Infinite which can effect models and textures, so why not have Legacy coatings for new weapons that have replaced the old ones? That way people who like the new weapons can have the new weapons and people who like the old weapons can have the old weapons if they put the effort in. This can even go so far as to turn weapons into completely different types of weapons that function the same due to the fact that the differing position of the arms has a minimal effect on hitboxes. So here are some ideas.

MK 50 Sidekick → Halo 3 ODST Magnum
MK 50 Sidekick → Halo 2 Magnum (so we can have the cool 3-finger handle)
(possible but unconfirmed) DMR → Halo CE Magnum (heck yeah)
MA40 AR → (wait for it) Dual SMG’s (you’re welcome)
MA40 AR → MA5B AR
MA40 AR → MA5C AR
BR75 → BR55
Sniper Rifle → CE Sniper Rifle
(in case that normal shotgun is not in Halo Infinite) Bulldog → CE Shotgun (destroyer of worlds)
(in case that normal shotgun is not in Halo Infinite) Bulldog → Halo 2 Shotgun
(in case that normal shotgun is not in Halo Infinite) Bulldog → Halo 3 Shotgun
Plasma Pistol → Halo 3 Plasma Pistol
Heatwave → Halo Reach Grenade Launcher (this fires a scatter grenade that functions in an identical manner to the Heatwave but instead of vaporizing the target just throws 'em pretty darn far)

Of course, all of these weapons would have remade models that would be faithful to the originals but that fit into the new realistic graphical world.
So, what ideas for Legacy weapon coatings do you guys have? And do you think that they should be in the game?

Someone posted something similar not too long ago.

Here’s the issue with making a weapon look like another weapon. You can visually see the player has a DMR but it’s then performing like a CE Magnum??

Id argue part of Halo is being able to visually identify the weapon you opponent has and playing around that to counter them.
By literally hiding what weapon someone has it’s just muddying the gameplay a little.

With Weapon Core’s existing we’ll like be able to choose different AR,BR models as they function the same.
Different weapons like the CE Magnum or OG shotgun may return in the future too. But having them as a weapon skin for a weapon that isn’t literally that weapon is a slippery slope of chaos.

Coatings will stick to colours and textures. Weapon Cores will seemingly be your different weapon models (non gameplay affecting).

We are speculating about different weapon cores so this is definitely on my radar as possible.
