What other legacy rewards can we look forward to and start working towards in the months leading up to Infinite’s release? Are we restricted to grinding everything out now to unlock rewards at launch, or will we still be able to earn them in the years to come?
I’m probably not the only one who feels a little irritated that we are being kept in the dark about these. They do not have to tell or show us the rewards, but they should inform us about what games and tasks we must accomplish. It is frustrating enough that FOMO events will be returning, and I don’t think it’s too much to ask, especially since Infinite was delayed a year and we are still missing a release date.
"SR 152: Players who hit SR 152 in Halo 5: Guardians will receive a token of appreciation in Halo Infinite."
"Halo 5 didn’t do a great job at rewarding our most engaged players (SR 152s), so we’ve added a few tokens of appreciation in Halo Infinite to help make up for that. Below you can see two of those tokens in the form of an exclusive armor coating and weapon coating."
“Out of the gate players can get starting gear and get rewards from the free Battle Pass track, the paid Battle Pass track, challenges, skill rewards, event reward tracks, legacy rewards (H5’s SR 152, for example), and be rewarded for some campaign actions.”
It will be interesting to see what legacy rewards there are. I never hit SR152 just because that’s way too much time out of my day. Who knows maybe this will
be the game to grind!

I’m gonna go on a limb and say most of the legacy gear stuff is more just time in stuff. Not specific objectives but just total time in and accomplishments. As far as the fomo style events go from what I take out of what they have been saying it’s gonna be just like the mcc seasons. You never really miss out on it because they just add new lines to go after. You can always double back to old ones you missed.

I wouldn’t stress too much on that from the sounds of what they are trying all the legacy gear stuff is going to be I unlockable by everyone, the people who get it just get it a bit earlier than the rest

MCC is NOT the example Infinite needs to follow. MCC has it all wrong. It does feature tiered seasonal unlocks that are permanently available to earn. This is perfectly acceptable.
However, it also includes seasonal challenges, which are only available for a limited time. They recently introduced the “exchange” where some previously timed-exclusive items are now available for purchase, but this is also the wrong approach. Players should still have to earn these items how they were originally intended. The solution is simple: make the challenges permanently available to complete. Do not make insanely difficult challenges and then hand out the rewards for free in a few months to everyone who was not skilled or dedicated enough to earn them. Additionally, MCC also released countless nameplates throughout the years, which were only obtainable at obscure times through obscure methods. For example, 343 hosts playdates to celebrate new seasons, and players can earn exclusive nameplates for matching up with them. The problem is, they only play a few games, they only match with noob and smurf bronze tier players, and they play at times that are convenient for them, which is the middle of the work/school day for everyone else. It’s as if their motto is, “Players last”.
Hopefully we receive special armour instead of just calling cards.
Maybe something like receiving Helio Skrill if you earned it in H5?
I could see people that got high ranks in previous games like Inheritor on Reach or 100% Achievements in certain games, LASO completions and such.
I am hoping for something tied into the Waypoint rerelease that makes use of the Halo Gamerscore on your profile.

Word.
A little extreme on some parts but, yeah I agree

Wait, what FOMO events?

Fear of missing out. Basically if you don’t play at that time, you can’t get the rewards for an unknown period of time after making you play more. It’s how time limited battle passes work in most games. So if they have limited challenges like in MCC players are.worried about this FOMO, even though in other games these things never become available again which won’t be the case here.
As long as they come back up at some point I don’t mind rewards being time limited, it helps encourage population and can be used to increase playlist interactivity at set points so I’m okay with it.
I do think having some rewards that are hard to unlock or skill based is a good thing. Why shouldn’t someone get special armour for reaching a certain rank? I think there should be a coating for reaching Onyx rank for example. It encourages more people to play ranked and work on their skill progression so they can obtain it. In Halo 3 the ranked playlists were extremely healthy because people needed to play them to increase their rank.

Right, I know what FOMO is. I’m asking OP about FOMO events in Infinite.

My bad they have confirmed some things will be held over for special events/dates.
So let’s say for instance one of the events is Christmas themed stuff. You will have to unlock the Christmas gear during the time period they set and I imagine it will be available every year, but only during the event making it a “FOMO event”.
Overwatch does these and I have to say it’s exciting when the event does come around and you get the idler event stuff and the new event stuff. I like it as there is always a population buzz during that time and you know you are getting fresh skins.
Some things will.probably only be unlockable during set times or with challenges, but these items will always come back up again and never been permanently locked from people getting them. There’s a huge difference to this and proper FOMO events where not playing means you can never get said item again (Overwatch does this and some skins can never be obtained again).

Thanks. I must have missed that part from the latest blog post.
I hope they would have armor tied to some the hardest achievements in Infinite and the past Halo games. Things like the Legendary campaigns solo or Master Chief saga. It would be cool also if you could have an emblem or armor for just having played the game on your account. I would like to get something for playing Halo 2. I like it when the rewards are tied to accomplishments like some were in Halo 3.
I’ve finished every campaign on legendary since halo originally came out apart from the 2 wars games. Hopefully long time players will get something for that.
in one of the inside infinites they say there will be legacy rewards THEN use the 152 as an example so that leads me to think that if the 152 is an example then there would be more then that, otherwise they would just have labeled it as “the 152 reward”
I hope legacy rewards are locked to only being able to unlock thru that method. There’s nothing wrong with non-paid skill based hard earned coatings/nameplates/armors etc. I think it’s a very healthy way for veterans to showcase their time with the franchise
fracture events might be the FOMO events you’re worried about. Other than that, I don’t expect to miss out on much.
I would just love to get something for completing the campaign on legendary, and LASO. Previous games on LASO would be nice too. Will be interesting to see what ends up happening.
