Anyone know, how the Xbox one / Xbox 360 version of reach be effected when MCC reach comes out? It currently has 2500-5000 active players. How will the population be effected? How far will it drop? Will 343 close reach’s servers?
MCC won’t be transferring ranks, I’m almost to general and I want to reach inheritor on the legacy version, but you can’t if there is no one to match make with or if the servers are closed. That’s why I asked this.
It’s very possible that many people will transfer over to the MCC edition, but it’s also possible that many of the people playing the legacy game are just like you, trying to attain the higher ranks. I don’t think anyone can predict a result with any certainty. If you are really worried, it’s also possible that people will stick with the legacy version because they find it better for some reason. But again, no way to be sure what will happen.
I’d expect to see a substantial drop in numbers if it’s a good port.
There will still be people playing who don’t want the updated version, don’t want to switch to a different levelling system, still use 360s and don’t want to upgrade to a One/PC, etc. but I’d wager they’ll be in the minority.
If they could share servers between MCC and Legacy Reach it wouldn’t really be an issue but I feel that would be extremely complicated and unfair given progression system differences.
I’d wager there will be a significant drop. You may find it harder to find games but not impossible I’d imagine. The chances of the servers being shut down entirely are incredibly slim, so I wouldn’t worry about that.
