How about bringing back some of the more convoluted maps that many have forgotten about?
I would love to see some of the following maps show up as official remakes.
Halo2
District
Backwash
Burial Mounds
Foundation
Terminal
Uplift
Waterworks
possibly reimagined damnation (still not sure how I feel about it)
I think from halo 2:
headlong
collossus
Maybe a longshore remake could work too
In general I think they really just need to add some maps with interactive elements (e.g. How Zanzibar had the wheel, bridge, and gate, turf had the bridges and garage door, headlong had the tilting metal beam, etc)
Call me crazy, but I would love to see a Ratās Nest remake. It has always been one of my favorite maps from 3, and being able to repulser warthogs off the map Would be so satisfying
I think its important that any map remade should make sense for Infinite.
Iām going to give you one example of a map that I loved in Halo 3 which I think would be horrible for Infinite.
Guardian. Yes. Guardian would be horrible.
Why? Because Repulsor would be insanely broken, Grapple wouldnāt help much, so its value for equipment isnāt there. Besides, what was Guardian good for? Oddball/Slayer. What does Infinite already have a ton of? Really good Asymmetric maps for Oddball/Slayer. So Guardian as good as it was in the past wouldnāt work too well in Infinite.
People tend to just think about map remakes in terms of what the maps were and not what they could be unfortunately.
I would love to see The Pit make a come back if not Zanzibar. Definitely what Id want to see the most would be Sandtrap from Halo 3 make a comeback, especially if the Elephants can make a return on that map. Picturing grappling onto one of those, or stockpiling all the power nodes on an elephant and fighting each other sounds like super fun chaos.
I also loved Guardian, and agree it probably shouldnāt come back in Infinite. Itās just too small with sprint, and I hated how they stretched Midship in H5 to account for sprint.
But, on the equipment side of things, they could just not have grappleshots and repulsors on maps which are broken by them. Iād hate for them to use the equipment as an excuse to not remake maps in Infinite.
RIGHT. Iām kind of in the middle with Stockpile and I know a few people who just donāt like it, but chasing each other down in Elephants trying to steal from each other would be such a great time.
Ideally they wonāt have an only 12v12 btb soon. Nothing is fun about the current version of btb unless youāre drunk or high and doing something goofy for the memes.
I want actual competitive btb where itās BR starts, and no more than 8v8 personally
The simplest solution, Do not include Repulsor and Grapple shot on the map.
Weāve got threat sensor and drop wall along side the powerups.
In a CQB map, the prior two would probably shine, just only give the threat sensor only 1 or 2 charges and a long respawn timer, boom problem mostly solved.
Give me Blood Gulch, Hang 'Em High, Gephyrophobia, Timberland, Death Island, Chiron TL 34 and Infinity and Iāll be the happiest marshmallow aroundā¦
Itās such a shame to me with all the player verticality implemented (clambering, grapple hook- even the repulsor!), there arenāt really any maps which take advantage of this with a vertical/platforming design approach, like that found in some Bungie maps like Lockout and Guardian.
I would rather we keep getting original maps that have the same design philosophies as legendary maps of old.
Kinda like how Aquarius is all original, but shares a ton of design elements with Midship (think about it and look around the map. Youāll see a lot of similarities)
