I can find no other place to suggest and express my want for this. Microsoft owns the rights but I don’t think they would appreciate a support ticket suggesting they make bumpy plastic discs. I really love Halo’s music and Marty’s work, I would love to be able to add even one soundtrack of the legacy games to my collection. 1 & 2 are insanely priced because of their limited nature and the record for 2 has only a small selection of songs from the game. 3 and ODST never got vinyl releases which is heartbreaking considering those 2 games alone probably contain 90% of my favorite scores from the franchise. I can imagine outsourcing and producing a product like this isn’t appealing, but nevertheless I feel like I have to at least show that I want it. It seems like records are becoming more and more popular in the video game music scene, notable examples being businesses like Fangamer or Limited Run Games, so I hope there might be a chance for it in the future.
I just had a look on eBay and, well, you are right. People are asking insane prices for Halo 2’s, Halo 3’s, and Halo 3: ODST’s soundtracks. Mine aren’t in the best of condition anymore but I’m glad I have them.
Vinyl records have been growing in popularity for quite a while now, so maybe a Legacy Collection could be made with all the tracks.
I’m not a vinyl collector personally, but I can imagine a lot of people would like that, especially if it’s a rerelease of the Halo ost’s.
