Left handed option?

I think it would be really cool if in Halo Infinite you could switch which hand your spartan is using, I myself am left handed and it would be nice if you could further personalize your character. Does anyone else agree or disagree? I’d like to here your thoughts!

I’ve seen this done in other games where cover is extremely important. I don’t think halo has necessarily been that sort of game.

This is true it isn’t necessarily, but it could be a nice option for that population of players, I personally would love this to be a functionality!

I’ve always been Pro-options in video games and as I may not think this fits into the halo core gameplay I do recognize it to be cool in custom games and maps build around it in forge

I could see it as a Custom Games only option, but it shouldn’t offer any sort of competitive disadvantage if that’s what you meant by Cover being important?

I’ve wondered why this was never implemented in Halo. I’m guessing having to do another set of animations for weapons used by lefties would present a resource problem for something that’s largely cosmetic and not high in demand. But, it would be cool

I second this. I’m a lefty and I want. I also want fully customizable controls so I can keep the same layout for all my shooters. Gonna need to be able to jump with Y, swap weapons with RB, pick up things with A, etc.

Fully customizable controls would be sweet. They can borrow the techniques from other games so it wouldn’t be reinventing the wheel.

I always thought Master Chief was left handed (throws grenades with left hand).

I never noticed that! But I don’t think he’s left handed because he shoots right handed, maybe he’s ambidextrous?

H2 had that except you would fire with your left trigger. I could’ve swore the gun was also in the left hand, but maybe I’m misremembering things.

He could be cross eye dominant.

This phenomena occurs when your dominant eye is not on the same side as your dominant hand (for example I have this and hunt with my off left hand). Shooters who have this shoot with their dominant eye for priority generally holding guns in their off hand. Throwing a grenade requires less visual acuity and should always be done with the dominant hand to get the most accurate throw.

I’d bet money chief is left handed right eye dominant so he shoots righty but has developed basically ambidexterity.

Neat idea, but I’d rather them focus on other little neat things before this personally.

My guess is that Spartans are equally as good with there right as there left. So maybe they just all train with there right? I don’t know… Just trying to give a lore explanation lol I wonder if the books shed any light of this topic…

I wouldn’t make it a gameplay gimmick, however it should be a HUD option. The character model in that case would reflect the players choice. In fact I’m asking for this option for a while now, even though I’m right handed. However I’m always for player choice and more personalization option we get the better imho! I would love to see:

> - Full personalization of the HUD: - Color - Size - Position - Reticle for every gun - Helmet on screen - Left or right handed - FOV - Opacity & fade-out

If I may quote myself!

As far as I remember, everyone (in halo) does.

I know SIIIs on Halo Reach also throw with their left and I believe that the Rookie did too.

I think helmets should have unique HUD types as well considering how each playable spartan in Halo 5 had their own style, on top of that you’d always have a default selection if for some reason you disliked the way it looked.

Agreed.

I’m right handed, but I agree that if it helps those who would like it then it would be a great idea to include it, but I also think it’s important to mention that not all left handed people would want this option, as in, it shouldn’t “replace” anything, but instead simply “add” to it as an additional feature.

Why? My boyfriend is left handed and has been a gamer all his life. He has stated that it would be awkward to be forced to have the gun on the left hand side just because he is left handed, because he is used to and comfortable with them being as they already are. Changing it up might make things better for some but also worse for others, so including both would be preferred. Though so long as Microsoft continues to allow us to change our controller button options on the console itself, it shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m a lefty and I don’t think I’ve ever had an instance where I thought I needed a left-handed option in Halo. Same goes for other video games, including ones that actually let you hold weapons left-handed. Maybe its the fact that lefties have to adapt to a right-handed world but I don’t really think its the big of a deal in gaming.
