Ledge grabbing?

I’d like to gather the community’s opinions on this.

Personally, I would like it. Here’s a disclaimer before I speak: I am in no way stating Halo should be like any game I mention, I’m just using them as examples.

I think it would be cool if it was like CoD in the sense you have to tap A at the ledge, with a slower pull up. Either that, or we should pull a Crysis 2 and swat down at the ledge (With one hand of course. Where would your gun go if you randomly grabbed a ledge? Silly Crysis) with the whole screen effect to make it a little more balanced/realistic.

Thoughts?

Nah, its a waste of time and data. Look at Metroid Prime 3. It had ledge grabbing and it was a waste of movement and mechanics.

It takes too long in my opinion.

It would really depend on map and level design.

I really think it would go along with showing off a Spartan’s finesse, which the other Halo games lacked. Judging by the teaser, I’m hoping they give us the soldier that can run 34mph and… well, grab ledges.

Take away the art of trick jumping and make Halo ‘slower’ and more military shooter like? No!

It’s not needed. Spartans can jump relatively high.

How about Legend of Zelda style? No buttons and no accidentals. If you tap the ledge nothing happens. If you get up against the ledge, face it, and and move at it for 3/4 of a second you’ll automatically jump up (if necessary), grab the ledge, then pull yourself up.
Again, no buttons and no accidentals.

It would all depend on how it was done for me. I’m just adopting a wait-and-see approach.

Isn’t that how Brink works?? Sorry never played it just saw vids on it.

how bout not ledge grabbing but ledge lunging where you could launch your spartan over the ledge

Crysis 2’s ledge grabbing was horrible and broken. Never. CoD’s is slightly better.

But riddle me this, riddle me that: what in the world is the difference between grabbing a ledge, and just jumping higher, you -Yoink!- -Yoink-?

Alright couldn’t think of anything else that rhymed except -Yoink-.

Ledge grabbing in crysis 2 looked cool and COD’s did nothing but press A and it didn’t look cool when you were playing

It looked dumb and it was broken.

Not sure how “looking cool” qualifies a game mechanic anyway.

Tactical jumps are Halo’s version of ledge grabbing.

BROKEN?! How are you going to get over a tall building STEP OVER IT?! In crisis 2 you used your hands like a normal person would do
