League (Clan?) support and Dominion

Amongst the vagueness of what’s coming in Halo 4 is the talk about support for League play which suggests clan support. Your thoughts about clans and how they might mesh with the Halo Wars style of gameplay with Dominion?

clan support? lol dude that is so 2004… you just need to adapt.

Why’s that so 2004? I think it’d be a great re-addition. If done correctly. Clans do well in SC2. Gotta start somewhere.

Adapt to what, exactly?

It’s my understanding that clans were supported in Halo 2. My internet connection at the time was not up to gaming strength so I never experienced how that worked. I recall some turmoil when it was announced that clans would not be supported in Halo 3, and Bungie left the door open for Reach but decided not to walk through it. Now 343i is hinting.

Yeah, they did say “group support” in some of their much-earlier announcements. I wonder if they meant clans…

There was clan support, but it wasn’t really embraced or supported by Bungie. It served purpose for matchmaking and what not. But the playlist was rarely large enough to get games quickly. I think now clan support could go a bit farther, plus easier to organize for clan leaders now that the Internet is cheaper, easier and more accessible.

I loved the clan system in Halo 2. But please, dear God, can we just call them “groups” or something? I can’t be the only one who feels like a 10 year old saying the word “clan”.

I remember 343i mentioning “groups” a while back.
But since then, they’ve said little to nothing about it.

In MW3, COD Elite organized clans very nicely.
Hopefully, 343i can top it with an in-game system.

If Halo 4 does support clans, hopefully it will be less specific.
Which is likely considering 343i initially used the term, “groups”.

I personally loved Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter’s take on clans; they called them squads and everything was ingame. No need for a thirdparty program (Like Elite) to organize it.
