Leader Variety

With the Yapper releasing today that’s puts us at a lot of leaders to choose from (sorry can’t rattle the number off right now). My question is with all the choices how many of you guys use more than about 3 leaders? I know lots of people choose one and just main with them game in and game out. I’ve used lots of leaders while learning the game but as of late I’ve found my favorite few and just play with those leaders. Mine in no particular order are Isabel, Forge (even before his crazy anvil buff) and Jerome. With Yap releasing I will probably try him once and most likely not use him anymore, I did the same with Arbiter. UNSC has just always been my comfort zone. So do you guys switch it up often or do you have a few favorites you stick with? And how many different leaders do you think you will face this upcoming season? Will it always be whoever the most “OP” the community deems to be that season will be the one we face every game like forge became this season? Look forward to hearing some feedback. Thanks!

I pride myself on being able to win the vast majority of my games as any Banished leader. Obviously I’m better at some (Colony) than others (Arbiter) but I can comfortably press “Random Banished” and know I have a fair chance of winning.

Do you often go with the “random banished”? I used to try that with UNSC but got stuck with Kinsano too frequently for my liking lol

Ive used every hero for an extended period of time except for johnson, anders, and serina. I started with atriox when the game was released, then decimus, cutter, forge, kinsano for awhile and didnt use flame hogs or JR, i used colony a ton, jerome for awhile even after his hotfix, arby is pretty fun but not totally my style, and i pretty much didnt use serina bc of her exploit. Im proud to say i almost never used the broken strats other people used with the leaders i used, i came up with my own openers. Nowadays (pre-forge) it’s atriox, colony, jerome, and a dash of forge. So pretty much i settled into 3-4 leaders so when i get bored i dont have to relearn a new leader, i can just switch freely. Also helps with making the game more fun when i run doubles with my buddy, different leaders lead to different openers on both fronts, makes the game fun.

I am with Breezy on the Banished front but I think that is because right now no Banished leader is absolutely terrible opposed to some UNSC leaders are not great.

I like the variety because it means you won’t play the same match up too often which is nice.

I’m trying to main this Grunt Leader hoping that if the next Brute Leader doesn’t have that mask and gauntlet from ATN. If he does well, gonna have to main that Brute Leader for the Predator reference.

Yea that’s a good point. Sounds like we are in the same boat. I’m far from great at the game but my buddy I usually play with is stubborn and only runs cutter and the same strategy every game. So I usually go with the leader I feel most confident with to try and counter his bad strategy lol he’s my buddy though so I can’t hang him out to dry. Haha

When I’m climbing to Champion I just picky mains (Colony, Atriox, Decimus) because I want to get there ASAP.

But once I reach Champion I just pick random

My mains are shipmaster, Decimus, Arby, and most recently Anders. I’m pretty decent with Cutter too. After the update I look forward to trying out Isabelle and YapYap.

Like Cole Train said I think I lean more towards Banished because none are terrible, but also because none have ever been truly op. I’m not a fan of using broken leaders and Forge (close to launch, way before Anvil), Kinsano, and Jerome all had their moment in the op sun. Also, I had teammates that focused on Atriox and Isabel so I’d try other leaders instead. I’m a huge fan of how many leaders there are this time around. It greatly helps with match variety.

I agree with loving the fact there are so many leaders to choose from, I just feel like I face the same leaders every game. This season it was Forge and Serina all day. I would love to play against a team that wasn’t using the same leaders. I run 3’s often and it seemed to be 2 Forge and 1 Serina every game.

I just swap between Deci and Atriox depending on who’s better at the time.

If all goes well, and depending on YapYap’s balance, no leader should be so broken they keep on appearing like Forge did. It seems like a good balance will bless season 6, brought to us of course by our lord and savior, YapYap THE DESTROYER.

I’m always switching.

I mostly used Atriox and Ship for the past few months, but now will run almost anyone other than Isabel.

I think I’m best with Atriox, just because I know his arsenal so well, but I have a lot more fun using different leaders.

The day of Yap has arrived and brought forth many blessings!!

14 Leaders total with Yap’s release today.

8 UNSC and 6 Banished.
ATN will bring in two more banished leaders to make for 8 and 8. The new leaders have been incredible and honestly have raised this game to one of the best RTS I’ve played in years.

However, map variety is not so good. I’m hoping that the two new deathmatch maps in ATN are awesome and I hope for a lot more.

For the record though, Terminus firefight I think is going to be amazing. I’ve long wanted in this game a “horde” style mode where you start out like a normal deathmatch game and have to use your build strats and eco skills but play coop against an unlimited and scaling enemy waves with boss fight rounds. That’s exactly what we are getting and I think you will see a lot more use out of leaders like Sgt Johnson and even Isabel with her decoys. The now pop free bunker is going to be clutch in that mode. Especially because your two teammates can use it too.

But yea anyhow Leader variety is awesome. Love just being able to play with bros 3 v 3 AI at times, set them on random and they all are different leaders most of the time.

I use Sgt. Johnson, Jerome, and Arbiter mostly.
Game NEEDs more maps though!

Yes it is fun to switch it up sometimes but I have most success with Isabel, I see you don’t have much love for her lol maybe I should give the banished more attempts, I might get a little better at the game lol

What a great comment!! I to am looking forward to terminus firefight!! It looks incredible. The different strategies that people will be able to try will be very interesting. And I hear you on the maps, my hope is once all the leaders are out maybe we will then see more maps brought to the table. I sure hope anyways!

I’d say stick to what you like, but try everyone!

I’ve just never vibed with Isabel’s playstyle, same with Forge. Something about those two I just can’t get down right (even the broken Forgehog).

Banished are great though. Each has different strats you can try out. Sadly, I think Arby is in the worst place atm (even though he’s still really good).

I love me some combat salvage lol and the mac blast at level 3 has saved me countless times. Plus the Ghost In The Machine power is great, just wish it lasted a tad longer. But I hear ya, gotta go with what you feel most comfortable with!

I’ve picking random mostly for the past two seasons.
Needless to say my stats are nothing special, but it’s been a lot of fun and I know how to use and am competent with all the leaders, which is nice.
