Powers like scatter bomb, eradication, and MAC blast can completely wipe out a full 120 pop army of tanks and other stuff for under a thousand of each resource. Making leaders like decimus and shipmaster not worth playing bc they don’t have these team wipe. I’m not saying they should get a power like eradication, but that those powers should get a huge nerf, either make them cost way more, do less damage, or give a bigger warning as to when they are going to hit. I’m not enjoying the game bc it crashes a good amount in game but when the game doesn’t crash, I get my whole army, worth thousands of resources, destroyed by an ability that costs 800 power and resources. It doesn’t make any sense for them to be that strong.
Attack enemy base. Wiped out witg leader powers
Enemy retaliates, wipe them out with leader powers.
Retaliate quickly enough to not be wiped again with their leader power as it is on cooldown.
Yeah, I agree. Many leader powers are absurd in how powerful they are compared to others. Especially with no Negetor.
I usually keep my army moving to avoid stationary AoE powers, as much as I can. Cleansing beam on the other hand, can’t get away from that.
They are not OP their cooldown ist just to low

And that is in one form something can be OP.
Use control groups and/or spread your army out: never attack as a blob. Flank the enemy base with your faster units.
If your army resembles a blob then of course people will use AoE powers against them. Also know your enemy: vs cutter a long line is bad, vs atriox a circle is bad.
You also do have time to move most units out of the way if you’re paying attention - though perhaps there needs to be an alert.
Once again though: just because we’re not used to it doesn’t mean it’s broken. We just need to get used to it.
I would agree that the cooldown times are perhaps a tad fast though.
I would definitely say that the leader powers for the Banished are severely OP - last night for example a friend and I were playing in Versus AI, deathmatch - I was getting my entire attack force wiped out and left with 3 or 4 units. When you add to that they had their Scarab and Condor buzzing around attacking your bases - we were constantly on the back foot trying to survive. Can’t tell you how it ended - 72 minutes in - the game disconnected and we were both returned to the menu.
They’re OP against certain leaders. Most good players will use their powers to keep an attacker at bay long enough for back-up to arrive. I’ve actually run into a few games where I teleport a full pop army in as The Shipmaster only for them to get wiped out by Atriox’s cleansing beams. Since teleporting in things like wraiths takes a bit, I’m forced to send in quick, cheap units to try and compensate for my army getting stomped and try to overwhelm my enemy. They get wiped out by Atriox’s army and a minute later, he’s knee-deep up my base’s -Yoink- and I have few options to counter outside of teleporting half of his army about 200 feet away. They’re on my base again with the beams of death and gg…
All I know is…Kisano is OP.
See we get a few, conflicts of interest here:
Without leader powers, it becomes a game of back and forth of who can make the best mob and basically, it just turns into some big event where as long as either side has a nightengale or shroud/enginner team, it becomes a matter of who made their mob better composed.
With leader powers, we get a few dynamics and they can shake up the game.
However, there is also something very wrong if we constantly get this back and forth effect of say, needing 5 minutes to build an army only to have a power that takes 5 minutes to recharge constantly wipe out and do it again.
Because if player 1 does it, player 2 will retaliate at the same way.
I mean you can say, do a starcraft inspired move by taking your lone sniper, cloak them, then use close air support on a base or forward guard, then come in with your group, but by late game, its the same thing:
-Minor attack power or major attack power will be used or teammate (if present) will do the same thing
I do believe that powers should be scaled back, armies should be weakned by them, not blasted into oblivion constantly.
Side note:
Go on, if you play Cutter, use a sniper, cloak, use close air support, if you do it with friends in a private game, its sure fun to tick them off.
you need know your leaders and enemy. lol the shipmaster is the best.
Leader Powers are the single biggest reason I tend to stay away from non-Blitz / Stronghold game modes. They are absurdly powerfully and extremely unbalanced between the Leaders. How they had it in HW1 was perfect. Here there is too many of them, with widely varying degrees of power.
Just tried several 3v3AI games. The enemy leader powers are insane, every time I had enough units initiate an attack bam in one hit they were gone from 3-4 Leader powers. Built an army, instantly destroyed. Yet Anders leaders powers have no MAC BLAST etc that does enough damage when they attack me. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HOW IS THIS A HEALTHY GAME MECHANIC?
what kind of high level game does OP play? i wish i could get into the stage where eradication comes into play : )

Yeah u can just micro manage and split ur armies apart. Part of being better than average is anticipating your enemies actions and capabilities. If you’re playing against that character u can have control groups set ahead of time to spread our ur armies quickly in different directions. They will literally almost be wasting a leader power. A lot of characters also have various ways of dealing with these leader powers.
