Lawsuit?

Do not make nonconstructive posts.

I’m not saying i’m gonna sue I am just wondering if someone could file a claim for false advertising? I’m talking about the story/campaign. Is there enough evidence for a falsely advertised case. If it were to happen it might hurt 343.

I don’t want that, that’s just another terrible way people will screw other people, the world doesn’t need more of that.

What are you talking about ?

I’m just asking If someone wanted to could they sue 343 and not have the case just thrown out.

In a way, I see the marketing tied into the ONI story of the campaign, and how they were keeping the truth from civilians about what was really going on with chief.

In a way, I found it clever because it left the story a surprise.

uh no

Not a -Yoinking!- chance, mate. You’re off your rocker.

You honestly don’t have a case. Having a misleading story is not the same as false advertising. There would need to be missing features, technical specs that were promised but not met…

Things that were promised to be in the game (stated to be in the game, as if they were), but are not.

You can’t do something like that though because lying even if it was something like you said is still false advertising.

Guy that actually knows a bit of legal stuff here:
Yes. Someone can file a claim at any time.
No. There is not nearly enough evidence of false advertising. In fact, artistic license protects them here.
Result: Anyone who does file a claim may have to pay THEM for wasting their time and money.
Note: Stop being a little baby just because the campaign didn’t play out like you imagined. You might as well sue McDonald’s because your chicken nuggets weren’t all the same shape.

Yeah no man.

How am I off my rocker for wanting to know if 343 could be sued?

I have a good indication that you are by your other posts.

And just the fact that you’re asking if a company can be sued over their story presentation.

Because there isn’t a basis to sue them. There is no evidence of false advertising. It was a hype campaign, from the perspective of ONI, an entity within the universe that manipulates the truth. There was a whole marketing campaign called “hunt the truth” which basically tells you that you are going to be lied to.

 1. Thanks for answering my question.
 2. There is no reason to be a -Yoink- in that note. I never said that the campaign didn’t play out how I wanted I was just asking a question.

So much -Yoinking!- hate on these forums.

If their theory is correct, it’s not really false advertising. Its more like an alternate reality game situation, where the game and it’s universe merges with aspects of the real world.
In this case, the ARG would be that ONI is releasing fake propaganda and things of the sort, which doubles as advertising for Halo 5.
If the intention is to make an ARG then at that point I dont think you can consider it false advertising at that point. If I’m wrong, someone whos more well versed in this please correct me.

It was your wording of the initial post. It was phrased like you had malicious intent. Anyone who actually reads these forums knows all too well that malice is common here. I guess my patience grew a little thin.

Because you make yourself out to sound like a spoiled brat.

Don’t even bring my other posts up they have nothing to do with this. The only reason why I was asking is because I was thinking about all the MCC posts by people saying they were gonna sue 343. I knew those people had no case but I was unsure if there could be a case for halo 5 will all the people besides me who -Yoink- about campaign I was suprised no one said they were gonna sue 343 for X reason so I asked the question. No reason for people to bring in so much hate on a simple -Yoinking!- question.

“I’m not saying i’m gonna sue I am just wondering if someone could file a claim for false advertising?” If I was going to sue someone I would go to a lawyer and ask if I had a case all this post was simply a question if some -Yoink- hat could sue.

Alright. Fair question, I suppose.
