Launching H5 Forge on Win10 starts broken Halo App

I’m trying to launch Halo 5 Forge on my Windows 10 PC (version 2004). Whenever I click that game (as well as Halo Wars Definitive Edition) to run it, it launches the Halo Hub App on PC. When that app launches, the app’s window takes a second to load (sitting on the Halo logo) and when it eventually loads, it display just an empty app window.

This obviously prevents me from launching both of those games as I apparently need to start them from that app. I’ve tried uninstalling the Halo app completely from my PC as well as Halo 5 and HW Definitive Edition (made sure all of their WindowsApps folders were completely deleted after uninstalling them normally by pressing the “Uninstall” button in their app settings as well as manually removing them with PowerShell), I’ve tried resetting the app, I’ve tried Logging out and Logging back in with my Microsoft email, I’ve tried clearing any potential caches of data the App may be trying to use, etc.

Is the app just broken in this version of windows? I can’t even find anyone with a similar issue to my own after searching for an hour. Does anyone know what may be going wrong? Again, I tried a completely fresh install of the app and no other app seems to be experiencing this issue. Even the Halo Channel app is working flawlessly (as well as any other Win10 app on my PC). I’ve also tried to just let the app sit for about 30 minutes to see if it’ll just take a while to load something and the window hasn’t changed one bit in that whole time.

UPDATE: The app simply seems to be broken. I just downloaded it on my Laptop Running Windows 10 1909 (the app has never been installed on my laptop before) and I just ran it and it seems to be having the same exact issue. Is there any way to play H5 Forge and HW Def. Ed. without the Halo Hub app?

UPDATE 2: So apparently the only way to fix this is just by totally uninstalling the Halo Hub app. Idk why but the app definitely seems to just be broken.

Support for the Halo app stopped earlier this year which is why it does not work properly.

Interesting that you say the Halo app support stop…can not find any reference to that on the internet.

Same issue Halo5 Forge will not launch…Sticks at the “Halo” screen then goes blank.
Have try opening the game from Xbox Console Companion, from Halowaypoint login, and desk top short cut. All result in the same launch to “halo” screen then goes blank.
I have checked the following and all are fine.

  • Installed the latest version of Win 10 Home version 2004 OS , 329 - Checked Xbox Network :
  • Internet Connection : Connected - Xbox Live Services: Up and Running - Latency: 23ms to 53ms (changes) - Packet Loss: 0 - NAT Type: Moderate - Server Connectivity: Connected - Also Uninstalled and re-installed Halo 5 Forge - Game Mode: ON

Solution to Halo5 Forge and Halo2 Wars launch.
Delete the Halo App (not Halo5 Forge) from your PC.
{Windows Setting/Apps/Halo}
Then download the new “Xbox Console Companion”
Open the XCC and find the game list and then launch Halo5Forge from there.
Hope this helps.

It’s been working for me for the last 2hrs.Here is a thread I found about the Halo App on Halowaypoint.

https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/halo-windows-app-sunsetting-8-16-2019

“We recommend that you go ahead and uninstall the Halo app as there will be no more content, updates, support, or functionality being added. If you currently use the Halo PC app to launch Halo Wars 2 or Halo 5: Forge, as of 8/16/2019 you will need to launch each application individually. Please note that this will have zero impact to your ability to play and enjoy these games and has no impact on performance.”
