Launch lineup thus far

Ok so after the delay of forge and co-op, just wanted to summarize all we know so far and discuss.

At launch

(Confirmed)
Campaign (with split screen I believe, but no co-op)
BTB
Arena (ranked and social)
Theater

(Unconfirmed)
Firefight (not a a word or even a clue of it yet)
Warzone (I’m nearly certain it wont be in for launch)
Custom game browser (without forge it will not be as robust but can still be beneficial)

Post launch

Co-op campaign (estimated 3 months post launch)
Forge (estimated 6 months post launch)
Assassinations (no estimated release)

Now that everything is clear, I want to discuss what needs to be present in what has been confirmed so far. What game modes should be present in ranked and social arena. What game modes should be present in BTB come launch. Is there any surprise game mode that will be there? Halo 5 had a lack of content at launch but that was for many reasons. Since the game will not be delayed, what do the game modes we are supposed to have at launch need to offer to keep the game interesting until forge and co-op campaign release.

What a skeleton of a game…

weird we call this a skeleton game when games launch with just single player and thats amazing. Anyway, comparetively this is way more robust then 5 which lacked half of arena and no btb. I do view it as a failure its lacking forge at launch but as long as the custom game settings are competant and theres a fileshare system for that, im fine with the delay

You didn’t even discuss anything. Not sure why you bothered to post at all.

In reality, no forge or co-op campaign at launch is a bummer without a doubt. This does not mean we cannot maximize the potential of launch content by exploring gametypes in BTB and arena. Imagine launching with forge and co-op campaign but only having 3 BTB maps and two playists in it. Imagine arena had 3 game types for social and ranked. I think we would say it’s lacking content as well even if forge and co-op launched.

Also as a side note, how often do most people play co-op campaign. I will play it once maybe every year. I’m bummed I can’t do it as my first play though but it is what it is. Forge absence will greatly hurt custom games which is my main issue, and I hardly play custom games at all but I know it can give an infinite amount of content.

Forge not at launch is “Oh well” Campaign Co-op not at launch is a “That sucks.” But overall we know these features are coming. I don’t know why the community can’t wait a few months for these.

You’re such a cringey apologist. I can’t believe you’re defending this -Yoink-. Co-op is part of the core Halo experience since Halo 1! And Forge has been one since Halo 3.

Sorry but their are other posts where you can discuss the delays of forge and co-op campaign. I want this thread to focus on what needs to be implemented with what we have for it to feel content rich at launch.

I think more people are angry about the fact that they are trying to pass content that’s been in previous games as the main content for upcoming seasons. The fact they don’t have these modes at launch also doesn’t give much hope for firefight, warzone and other game modes. They’d have to reveal some more content or some big brand new mode to keep the hype up.

Because so many people, myself included, have been planning with their friends to do coop day-one. I’ve been doing coop first in Halo since 2007, and now we have to wait through 3 months of temptation, and huge spoilers getting blurted all over our feeds if we want to do that.

Halo’s campaign is best experienced first the way you want to do it. Not limited to a single player run.

Coop at launch is a NECESSITY. Period.

I think more players would happily wait 3 months for MP to open up than be forced to wait an extra 3 months and live under a rock to avoid spoilers if they want their first experience with campaign to be with their friends.

The painful thing is that not everything is clear.
For a big part of the population both firefight and the customs browser are foundational parts of the game but we really don’t know anymore if they are ready. Same is for the multiplayer playlists; we all have expectations for the amount of maps and game modes but we don’t know more then that there are 6 maps, BTB and social and competitive arena.

I really hope they will follow up this last community update with the specifics of the game they are launching. I still have faith in the game they know we want them to deliver and with all the troubles of COVID it will take time to get there. Just no more surprises and then we’ll be able to enjoy what we get and look forward to what’s ahead instead of getting heartbroken by our own expectations of the launch and the roadmap.

Yes, this is right. The point of this post is to see what needs to be done to make sure launch doesn’t feel empty content wise. Would a firefight make this better if confirmed? Would a bunch of playlists for BTB and arena be enough? If so, what playlists do we need at launch such as infection and so on. The core of halo is launching this holiday, which to me is arena and BTB. If those two are lacking for launch, it wouldn’t matter what launched with them. This is why I made this post to see what people are wanting/expecting to be at launch for what have had confirmed.

they lack patience and proably are used to other games having things at launch

Huh? What other way of playing split-screen in campaign is there?

Online co-op like halo 5. From my understanding in the video, the campaign is not going to be linear. As in, there are multiple ways to go about and finish the campaign. They said there is a problem with the save and progression due to this considering different things can be completed by the two playing. So let’s say the campaign gives us a task to take down 5 banished camps, you can do them in any order. Now progression might be different between two players.

I would imagine split screen wouldn’t have this issue. It was never confirmed nor denied but the problems they mentioned should not apply to split screen co-op but online co-op between two profiles.

343 said “no co-op”. Not “no online co-op”. That obviously includes both splitscreen and online versions thereof.
If the issue is because of progression synchronization it will also still affect splitscreen with two different accounts, forcing one of the two to resort to a temporary profile.
On top of that, PC won’t even get splitscreen at all so online is the only way they can play co-op in the first place.

Split screen campaign would need a guest account like you said if it were true.

I’m just seeing many halo YouTubers give both answers. it has not been confirmed or denied by 343i or made clear.

PC will most likely not have any type of co-op at all for launch.

Multiplayer would need to have a large array of game modes for me to feel like launch will not be a failure. Without co-op and forge, the launch will not be a success. (There is a gray area in there if you don’t think too hard about it). I am not expecting this to happen though. We will likely have slayer, CTF, and maybe one other mode. The other oddball modes will also probably come later. I still remember H5 launch.

So you want to delay the game another 6+ months? Frankly they can, there’s too many games out now days but others just want pvp or solo campaign asap.

well, let me see…

no forge means no customizing map layouts or making new maps.

but custom settings should still be present, that should give us the follow of the top of my head modes;

slayer; 2v2, 4v4, 6v6, 8v8, FFA
fiesta
snipers
oddball (shown)
capture the flag (shown)
king of the hill
infection
that one mode where one player is powered up (juggernaut i think?)
swat

starting to forget other modes…
other than those though, campaign doesn’t seem like it’ll have splitscreen or online co-op,
so we’ll have solo campaign, easy, normal, heroic, legendary, LASO.

however, the multiplayer side is still free, barring just customization items.

doesn’t seem like a ton, but what needs to be in that whats confirmed can make? i dunno, kinda seems like if we have access to these settings we should be able to make most common modes, should be general halo modes in matchmaking.

of course other modes that need specific maps will probably wait till forge, like grifball and race.

i would think at this point… most people will probably just install the free multiplayer, play for a long time, and probably go back to other games or MCC, like they have lives or something, and wait until more features entice them back. i would expect campaign and lore suckers, like me, to buy the campaign immediately however.

That would be an acceptable arena/social lineup. It also depends on the amount/quality of maps.

What makes you think people will just leave. I understand those that go back and play customs in MCC but how about new halo players. Keep in mind, warzone, apex, and fortnite all rely on their core battle royale experience. They have all maintained popular despite what people say. I am hoping this will be true for Halo Infinite. If the playlists you mentioned are there at launch, we have a variety of good maps, and the core multiplayer gameplay is set at where halo should be, then why would new players go back to other games unless they don’t like it. Forge would be something new players have not experienced before and it’s why its absence will only really be felt by the halo community.

I believe they will deliver on the launch content they have because there will be nothing else. I’m just saying the lack of forge or even a co-op campaign won’t matter to new players but will for the halo community. However, launching with a good core experience is most important and is what will keep players in until the later modes come.
