I play Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam. The problem began after I was given a choice to play Halo: The Master Chief Collection with Easy Anti Cheat enabled, or disabled. I always pick “Play With Easy Anti Cheat Enabled” because I might as well earn achievements while playing.
After I selected, a loading bar was shown, indicating progress of the game is loading it’s self, as usual. But then, I was greeted with a launch error code.
Couldn’t start the game. Error Code: 23 (Game client encountered an application error. (Error Code: 23)).
This has always popped up when ever I try playing with Easy Anti Cheat Enabled for the past few weeks. How ever, this game does launch with the version without Easy Anti Cheat, but I rather play to earn achievements.
I tried a few methods to fix this issue.
I tried verifying integrity of game files in the Local Files tab of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and it detected no issue.
I then opened the easyanticheat_setup application within the files of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and then clicked “Repair Service”. I ran the game again, and the Launch Error 23 pop up reappeared, preventing me from playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection with Easy Anti Cheat.
How do I fix this issue?
